Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft announces partnership with Ocolus!!! early E3 Megaton!

I finally watched the video on IGN. It seems the presentation failed. Maybe IGN cut the footage too early, but it seems Phil Spencer is waiting for applauses after the demonstration, and it's just an heavy silence... Was it really like this live ?

I still don't get the point of this "demo". Just announce the partnership, but don't show something so.... "hype-killing" ? (Is that a good word for something like this ?)

Surely people have walls that can accomodate a 42 inch TV wall mounted.... the rooms cannot be *THAT* small.

Well sure.

Also it could have the advantage if the TV breaks or if someone else is using it.

Yeah but thats really limited appeal/need though, which is what I am kinda getting at. VR's biggest feature is awesome games putting you in the world.... that's basically it, searching/buying stuff in a store or streaming stuff onto a fake TV for me, is like trying to find other back of the box features...  but they arnt needed if you just make sure games are great on it.

No the trailer crashed very quickly as far as i understand it, (I was only half watching)... I think I heard Phil say something like "It's crashed" and "this is the part where you laugh"... so yeah I dont think it worked. It was interesting that the crowd weren't the typical cheering fools, but I think the presenters probably needed to dial it down a bit with their presentations, it still seemed a bit full on which obviously didnt work with the more laid back crowd.

What will be interesting to see is how much Sony will now put VR into their presentation on Tuesday, hopefully nothing more than 20mins, because I think it will be easier to release videos separately.

Oh, news from Microsoft relating to this reveal....

http://news.xbox.com/2015/06/xbox-looking-toward-e3-and-beyond

Phil Spencer talks a lot about Windows 10, "best operating system for gaming we’ve ever released", and "Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10".

Is this really a return to pc gaming for Microsoft ? (Windows 10, partnership with Oculus, streaming to PC...)

Microsoft can still turn this around if they present Minecraft VR at their keynote. That's a game which should run in full blown VR on X1 and can have a considerable impact.

OMG... I just saw the video and IGN cut out the laughing after the demo. This is so painful:

https://youtu.be/RE6GtnAXQSs?t=3m1s

and IGN... um how do you feel about the announcement today?

Even Ryan Mccaffrey disapproves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI0kjDlCMak

the partnerships to provide a controller, people reading into this thinking its a signal for oculus coming to xbox one are sorely mistaken, oculus is too processor and gpu heavy to work on xbox one, DK1 and DK2 owners got wind of the final retail recommending "at least" a GTX970 for optimal play.
Wouldnt work on the PS4, either.

Oh great, being able to simulate a room in a room playing in a room while you are in a room is such huge megaton, roomception, exclusively on One :p
