I get the sense they kind of like their standing as Japan's top publisher and don't want to help others gain on the success of their IP. They have every right to be prideful. They turned a hanafuda card company into a billion dollar corporation. Lets say you had this IP that was worth tons of money. Would you be whoring it out to every 2 bit operation around? You'd damage your franchise, your brand, and eventually your own profitability. I know I wouldn't trust SE with Nintendo IPs after seeing what they did to their own flagship franchise FFXIII.
