I used to agree with this. Now I think that the Wii U has a lot more in commion with the Sega Saturn.

Most online sources I've found place it's total US library at around 250 games, and PAL about the same.

For the global total to be 1200 that would mean close to 80% of its games never released outside Japan. I don't think that's likely.
