"Worldwide" Splatoon retail sales:

Japan - 238,374 (2 weeks of tracking)
US - 136,000 (2 days of tracking)
UK - Between 23,300 and 35,900 (2 week of tracking)
France - 24,000 (1 week of tracking)

Total > 421,674

If we include other European markets (Germany, Italy, Spain..), Canada, Oceania and digital sales, then the current total number should be around 550,000 - 600,000. There is no doubt shipments will comfortably exceed 1 million units by June 30 which is when the first quarter of the fiscal year ends.

Hopefully this momentum continues. Despite the fact that I no longer find Nintendo consoles worthy of purchase I would hate to see them go away. They fill a specific profitable portion of dedicated gaming (family.. and more) that I think Sony and MS do not.

As ever my only gripe is the lack of viable competition in the dedicated handheld space. It seems its all Nintendo all the time, unfortunately that means a lack of the kinds of hardware and software worth buying for people like me. However, if that means Nintendo can rely on the mobile side for better profit when their console side fails hard, I'm actually willing to let that go. I will always prefer consoles over handhelds anyway.

1m by the end of the year seems plausible 

Around 1m will be probably be on the end of month, 1.5-2m will be easily be at end of year. So we can say that Splatoon LT will be 2m+ game.

It's really funny how certain individuals keep saying that Splatoon is a flop! Some people just never get tired of saying stupid shit I guess.

So in the end my 350k retail estimate for Splatoon first week probably wasn't that far off. The actual number is probably closer to 400-450k though. Very nice numbers either way.

I still don't get why the game is full price in NA and I think it probably hurt sales potential in that area. 200k+ could have been possible imo.

Yes, very likely.

Around 550,000 - 600,000 is so great, I like to see them being this successful with a new IP (even though personally I was never hyped for the game itself.)

Of course that number also means my prediction wasn't as close as I thought xD
