Forums - Sony - Is Resistance The Next Remaster To Release

I didn't really like the first two, third one was decent.

No. Sony is pretty much done with Resistance, and they officially said that a few years ago. If we do get a remaster collection it will be thrown together to fill out the PS4 holiday season.

I know Insomniac said that but I don't recall Sony saying that.

I don't know who the guy in the article is, but it says he is from Sony.

You could take that at face value or you could assume he means something else. Either they're just not interested in doing it or they just haven't made any plans yet to do it. Either way, they didn't officially say they're done with it. That kind of comment leaves it open regardless of what the outcome is. I personally don't look for them to continue it any time soon if they ever do.

Would be nice to see this series coming back.
A collection of all Resistance games in holidays 2016.
Resistance 4 in holidays 2017.

Sony shafted Resistance procedurally. No marketing push for 2 or 3, with 3 coming out in one of the most crowded holiday seasons in action game history. They then sent the Vita game to die not too long after screwing R3 and Insomniac went multiplat after being screwed so hard on one of the most renowned FPS games of the past 20 years.

So no, we won't see Resistance ever again. It was one of many casualties of Sony from 2009-2013. Shame that that stretch had some of the best and worst from Sony simultaneously.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Well you need to consider the Resistance series was average at best and didn't deserve a big push. I played them all, handheld games included.

Personally I don't think Resistance is dead. It certainly has a following so maybe it needs a reboot.

I think the Resistance franchise ran out of steam after R3 and the near invisible Burning Skies on the Vita.

The original Resistance was the first PS3 game that had me legitimately hooked (I loved the alternate history backdrop in particular), but the franchise went south with R2 when the Insomniac tried to make it more like CoD Modern Warfare.

I wouldn't mind a trilogy remaster/release on the PS4, but I'm not sure there's enough of a demand for what essentially became an underperforming franchise.

Just make a new one the remastered thing is becoming to much!

As a series it was average but Sony didn't even try to push it like they did their other average-at-best shooter franchise, Killzone. And as I said, R3 is held in fairly high regard in the FPS pantheon.

But I disagree that it has a following. Resistance had really bad return on each game (going from 4m to 2m to 1m to I believe like 50k). Sony was in the midst of their HORRIBLE advertising drought for games when 3 launched, yes, but the series didn't seem to have more than a million core fans in 2011 based on R3's sales. So a remaster would perform probably around R2 levels because of the new crowd gobbling up everything they missed when they were on 360. Very good for a remaster but I don't trust anybody except Insomniac with that franchise and I don't think they're gonna come back after Sony's slap to the face.
