Wow imagine if they actually met up with the demand of the game how many copies of Splatoon would have been sold.

No, but 3DS is still higer than everything else except wiiu, the problem is market is very low this days, and still WiiU is outselling 3Ds, wich is a unique thing that probably are not going to happen again in a long time.
