It seems to many people in this thread are giving up on xbox, and blaming Microsoft for every damn thing that goes wrong, sometimes it's their fault and others it's not . I about 3 days ago sold off all my playstation systems and am never going back.
I am xbox only for my main gaming and Nintendo switch for backup.
I got completely feed up with Playstation bs and too many kissing sony's ass anymore to support that shit. Some will agree with me and others will not, it's ok. I have quite a few friends doing the same as me, we are also going to be starting a xbox YouTube channel to show our support and love for the brand.

Well Sony deserves the praise, they will have around 10 exclusives releases by the end of february and sure people can be like Halo Wars 2>>>> Nioh +Horizon+tales of berseria+Gravity Rush2+Digimon+Kingdomhearts 2.08+Fate game+Yakuza 0 and so on...  MS can do better the high bosses simply don't want to take the financial risks.

I miss the time when MS did simple things like summer of arcade with games like shadow complex/Castle Crashers/super meat boy/Fez/Splosion man/Keflings/trials HD...   All we get is 1000 games @ID and after Ori I can't think of a game that made the indie crowd happy on Xone. Hmm maybe Inside.

Also the gold deals aren't exciting anymore, last time mirrors edge was on sale for like 30 euro on GOLD while on Ps plus I could get it for 10 euro..Guess which platform I choose

People are giving up because we also had this discussion in 2014 and if you would go back reading comments as 'but MS is investing in games like Fable Legends/phantom Dust/Scalebound/Crackdown 3' and in 2017 we may be lucky if we get two of those games.

Ms simply needs to invest in a lot of games and show gamers they seriously care, it is not hard to understand that people feel like MS is giving up...

Xbox One obviously due to it being in the EA Access Vault. Easily completable within a month. 2€ well spent.

Ryu you make fair arguments for obsidian, so does shika. Obviously ya they are the best option for a Rpg exclusive since everyone else is off the table. I loved kotor 2. New vegas was too buggy for me when I played it and I was over the fallout art style( too brown and ugly). I also didn't like alpha protocol. But I haven't played there more recent games so idk. If they where to make an exclusive I'd hope its an original ip.

Well their was also Larian studios:

but they had to rush their game out and it almost was cancelled (game with dragon getting cancelled...Scalebound deja-vu).

Ms and the publisher gave up on Larian studious and they came back with Divinity Original sin that has like 88% on metacritic.

But worst thing for me is psychonauts, MS cancelled funding because it was childish and doesn't look good. Tim shafer lucky found someone else to fund the game and the game ended up with 88% on metacritic (the best rated 3D platformer on xbox consoles so far?). it hurts because we could have some exclusive Psychonauts games on xbox and last week PSychonauts Vr released exclusively on PS4.

I guess for Microsoft this is big news. I'll take what I can get with the split screen.

Sony doesn't deserve the praise for most exclusives they get. They just get them (the Japanese ones).

You can praise them for Horizon, Uncharted or whatever but that they simply get all the Japanese games because they are the Japanese company every Japanese dev supports isn't an achievement by them.

MS would have to pay what Sony does get for nothing. It's a totally different situation for both.

If it wouldn't be these Japanese devs who never really planned to support XBO (I mean, they didn't stop working on XBO games, they never started to do so) then Sony wouldn't have so many exclusives so yeah, you can blame MS not trying more but Sony doesn't try so much either, they are just in a lucky position.

I agree that MS should try harder, though. Especially with more own studios but well... opening a great studio in Japan would have been a great idea years ago. It would have been also a good sign for other Japanese devs and they would maybe get a few more games from them if they would be more active on Japanese ground.

Please don't, one more extra thread might finish VGC off.

At least we can only see them for a hour per day on VGC's current servers.

Wonder what will shut down first, Crytek or VGC....

....and out of that hour I spend 25 minutes of it getting thrown back to the previous page especially with the big nation threads and having to spend another 25 minutes to go to the actual page I wanted then I get 10 minutes of reading time :P

Even then, it's preferable to the "Impeach Mr Potus" threads that are loaded with verbal diarrhea...

Then after all that it's down again....

Joking aside this is getting ridiculous

Entering the site to find it's down almost all the time does end up annoying someone...

You guys give obsidian way to much credit. And at the same time put all the blame on ms. What has obsidian down when they arnt already handed a great franchise. Alpha protocol sucked. Their aliens Rpg got canned. As did the one for Microsoft. These guys are not quality devs. Not even close to the best Rpg devs out there.

Recently:

Pillars of Eternity - 89 Metacritic

Tyranny - 81 Metacritic

Franchises Passed:

South Park Stick of Truth - 85 Metacritic

Fallout New Vegas - 84 Metacritic

Neverwinter 2 - 82 Metacritic

Kotor 2 - 86 Metacritic

It's a bit weird to ignore their other (great) games simply because they were passed down to them (We could say that for many developers) they arguably made one of the best Fallout games, along with a great South Park game and great follow up to KOTOR, they are great at what they do (Which is RPGs) they just get fucked around a lot by publishers sadly.

Also RPG is an area which MS is hugely lacking in right now, we're 4 years into this gen and have nothing in sight, Fable (Dead for now) Scalebound (Cancelled), Lionhead (Closed)

We sure as hell aren't getting an exclusive from Bioware, CD Projekt Red, Bethesda.

So who is left? Out of the reasonable choices Obsidian is easily the best, when they have the time, budget and manpower they produce stuff like KOTOR 2 and Fallout New Vegas, even Pillars is amazing and that is a smaller budget game which has a minority portion of their staff working on it (Up until this month 70% of their workforce was on some MMO game)

I'd argue that this is the last resort they have. Bethesda has a clear affair with Microsoft and unlike other devs, they actually SAVED the studio with Morrowind. I believe if MS wanted, they could ask for a third party game from them.

Also, Activision has a very harsh deal with Bungie and I have started to think they might be having second thoughts on going back to MS. Mistwalker still likes MS, but they are busy since they are a story dev and need technical muscle. Spike Chunsoft apparently is in a tight position, as are D3 Publisher and Tamsoft, all of which could be used solely as devs for a story building Mistwalker-Bethesda-Bungie trinity. But the one thing that I find odd, however, is the amount of development muscle (gargantuan even when compared to the likes of Square Enix) 343i has and hasn't used focusing solely on Halo. If they removed the stigma of 343 is Halo, then they could easily put out three more games at the expense of slowing down Halo 6, which will not be arriving any time soon...

Under most circumstances, I'd say otherwise, but I think they are down but not out...

Halo 4 story + Halo 5 multiplayer = a very good game :)

Proud to be a Californian.

I agree with Crissindahouse, Sony doesn't really deserved praise they just get JRPG automatically without actually trying. Also like someone said earlier in this thread games like COD, FIFA and GTA5 is what most people are playing hell GTA5 on the PS4 is always in the top of the list on VGchartz and even in Japan of all places that it is constantly on the list there. You will never see a niche JRPG game have crazy legs like that...ever.

Proud to be a Californian.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided dlc 'A Criminal past' is out now. I finished it yesterday and it was very good. Much better than System Rift, the story was actually interesting this time.

Halo Wars 2 is fun to play and there seems to be plenty of content. Problem is I suck ass 😐 Even the normal AI is beating the shit out of me..last rts game I played was Warcraft II.

Not sure about MS being afraid to let Halo breathe. Millions of Xbox gamers want to play Halo so it simply makes sense to work on their most successful franchise. Also people who say The Coalition should work on a new IP instead of Gears make me cry. It's Gears ffs, games like it are the reason to own Xbox, there's plenty of new multiplat IPs to play.

About MS's 1st party..yeah it could be better but in the end I'm sure your average gamer doesn't give a shit whether a game is 1st, 2nd or 3rd party. I don't anyway.
