I wonder why Ori wasn't listed, either it's not releasing into Game Pass (Goes against the wording) or they're focused on 2018 titles (Except the obvious Forza, Gears, Halo combo) which hints towards Ori 2 not releasing this year.

Also found it interesting that Banjo is front and centre with Chief, considering the recent rumours

Could just mean they were focusing on the 3 games that release the soonest, Q1 and Q2 releases. Or it could mean that it was 2018 releases and Ori 2 isn't 2018.

Probably they just placed finished games there that will definitely come out soon. Also, I'm sure they will also announce something except FH4 at E3 as well for this year. Probably some smaller indie title at least. Because they've done so every year lately.

Does Netflix remove their shows from Netflix?

Not the Netflix originals they make themselves. Just 3rd party shows which they pay for timed licenses for.

Then I don't think MS will remove games.

I said this on Discord so I'll post it again.

With 55 XBL users by 2019 I can see about 1/3rd being subbed to gamepass so 18 million and when they pay for yearly subs that's about 2.6B in revenue. Also its a great way to keep people on their ecosystem. A lot of Xbox games have been flops so this will help give these games more support

To accomplish this I think MS I going to have a better lineup so they can keep people subscribed. But I don't see them making profit til next gen.

Also I think Gamepass could help Japanese games find an audience on Xbox One.

I missed that completely. God it would just make such a monumental difference to the perceptions around Xbox's line up if there were confirmed old-school Banjo and Fable titles in the mix. Nevermind if they could rustle up Conker or Perfect Dark as well .

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

In a interview with the verge Phil said this

"Not just those games, but our future Halos, our future Gears of War, future Forzas, "

Doesn't that possibly imply that they have multiple halos in the works.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

I think that only implies that there's gonna be more than one Halo in the future, nothing else.

That's possible. But if that's the case why only mention 1 gears game but then multiple forzas. Is it possible that what he actually ment and accidentally revealed that there are multiple halos, forzas and 1 gears game in development. That falls in line with the leaks.

• 2 different halos in the works according to the leaks

• we know that gears 5 is in development. But also a lot of leaks that coalition is helping other studios, possibly helping with perfect dark. It's highly unlikely they are also working on another gears game

• we know forza horizon 4 and forza 8 are in development.

They keep the shows on the service  but they do stop the cancel seasons. It’s easier to gauge than games because it depends on viewership.

You really think MS would do something like this if there wasn't an obvious upside to it? They already have the numbers figured out. Just like Netflix, MS wants most of the revenue to their own games, so this will likely push them to release more first party games and 3rd party exclusives.

If you don't want to get Game Pass, nobody is stopping you. You can still buy the games separately.

I get that, and I'm not directing how Microsoft should do their business. But as a consumer of their electronics, I think I'm entitled to voice dissatisfaction when I dislike a buisiness decision.

yeah but nothing changes for you. Keep buying your 1st party games then. Digitally or at retail.

Will it make up for the lost revenue, though? Just because all of the revenue of the game pass goes directly to Microsoft, who knows what percentage goes to game licenses that are on the game pass themselves? Somehow I imagine that a core Microsoft gamer would bring in more revenue by just buying 3 MS games per year than to be subscribed the whole year.

I'm not sure what you mean by game licenses? Since we're talking about 1st Party Exclusives here.....

Sure a core gamer would bring in say, $180 a year for 3 games, a year of GamePass is $120? But it's not as easy as just working it out like that, we don't know how big the core Microsoft gamer is compared to the casual market who would just like going from game to game, let's say it had 5M subscribers, that alone would be $50m per month, $600m per year which will be more profit than revenue to Microsoft than compared to physical sales.

This kind of service works great for Netflix, I'm sure Microsoft has ran the numbers and know what they're doing...

The only way this works Imo is if Microsoft firstly spreads their releases out and secondly provides a steady stream of exclusives, more exclusives encourages more subscriptions which provides more revenue, It's as simple as that so it's in their best interest to use this cash flow to continue to fund exclusives.

We're only really losing the 'X Amount of Sales' bonus and we still sadly have the 'X Metacritic Bonus'

Pretty much.

They need to additionally develop exclusives that aren't shooters or racing games. Otherwise they will only get the same crowd on Game Pass. Those who already have a sub.

I just had to bring this up again, it's from the SteamWorld Dig developer Brjánn Sigurgeirsson that Jim Sterling contacted to do one of his Jimquisitions about in November last year.

I found it interesting at the time I saw it but now with the first party games launching into Game Pass and a big focus in general towards the service I wonder if this could be to do with Microsoft picking up a bunch of great indies to launching into Game Pass as well to supplement their first party games to keep sub numbers up.

Something like this could make a lot of sense as Indies would retail for $15 anyway so a $10 to play them sounds great along with the other games the pass offers and they are generally shorter to complete than AAA games and I always get the feeling the majority of indie sales come with big 50%+ sales down the line due to their digital nature so this could actually push more revenue for many ID@Xbox developers.
