Very disappointed with The Witness. Spent far too much on it.
Games like Turing Test (even with a disappointing ending IMO) offer a far better puzzle experience.

Thanks Barozi and Shika! I was about to buy the witness but won't waste my money now. Might pick up the turning test instead.
The game is just so same-ish. It's always the same basic idea just with different rules. Some rules being completely bogus and arbitrary of course. I feel like the game would be better suited for mobile devices, with the exception of puzzles where you need to interact with the environment.
Story is non-existent.
There are no explanations to anything. You can walk across the whole island and start where you want... except you're being "taught" some of the puzzle principles in completely other regions. So you CAN'T start where you want. Then why is it an open world game in the first place? Bad game design IMO.
Also there's been a mechanism implemented to stop players from brute forcing through some of the puzzles. If you happen to fail a puzzle, the panel might get dark and you need to do the previous puzzle again to get another chance.
It's absolutely useless. There was one puzzle where the panel got dark after failing it only ONCE. How is that brute forcing? And even if people do that, just let them play however they like. After all if they're actively trying to exploit a method, they won't be stopped by such a mechanism. They will just look up the solution on the internet.
I agree with Barozi. For the reasons he mentioned, I never completed the game and I don't think I ever will.

It seems that the game isn't ready yet and maybe it won't be even ready by November when it releases. Also I don't think it will benefit that much by releasing in July instead of November. |
Do you know how many games that dropped in November had to have a price cut just to survive the holiday season?
June gaming summary. I'm still on a Fifa rehab but still didn't have time to play that much..
Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition - 40 achievements / 885G
Plants vs. Zombies Garder Warfare II - 36 achievements / 645G
Halo: The Master Chief Collection - 28 achievements / 250G
Dead Rising 4 - 11 achievements / 160G
Gears of War 4 - 5 achievements / 55G
Dreamfall Chapters - 3 achievements / 75G
Alice: Madness Returns - 4 achievements / 50G
Total 128 cheevos and 2120G. Not too bad. Garder Warfare II is a very good child-friendly shooter, is anyone here still playing it? I could use some help with Boss Hunt Boss achievement when that boss hunt event becomes available. It seems impossible to do with randoms :P

Do you? You could have just told him if you want to make an argument. Most games are on sale during holiday season, I have no idea how many of them have to do it just to survive though.

I've stated this numerous times. The laucnhes do not fare will in November unless they are COD of the primary Battlefield or Battlefront. November is now bad territory for anyone who decided to launch between the period. A bunch of launch games were put on sale early because they could not compete with COD or Battlefield one last year. This year is battlefront and COD's year. It will not be good. It doesnt matter if the game is exclusive or multiplat.

You can find a deal on all games new or not on Black Friday. Before then actually with the stores trying to draw you in. Even COD

Thats because infinite warfares sales dropped. COD and Battlefield still owned the holiday season but were harmed by the oversaturation as well. They still made their money back, but the fact still remains that their sales were down. Titanfall sold below sales expections as you know as well. This is why Sony and Nintendo have been launching the lionshare of their exclusives in the first two quarters of the year. They have other games they launch later, but its becoming dangerous, especially for exclusive games.
