I hope it's playable on Xbox One X. Microsoft better support the X for 4 years or that's just a big FU and if they do that I'll just give up on their consoles and buy and play their games only on PC.

| crissindahouse said: Yeah, "nextgen title", like "buy an Xbox One X and don't get all the new games we invest in now"? Because that would be the next joke, Phil saying they first concentrated on hardware and now software but that hardware is useless for the new software haha. I hope it's just bad wording and at least it means they invest in something new. |
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that happened tbh.
He said he'd just signed games that wouldn't be ready for 2-3 years. Ok, that alone puts us into 2019-2020, at which point the current gen will be 6-7 years old, and as we all know, 7 years is pretty much the same stretch of time that covered last gen. So then we have two questions. One, will the mid gen upgrade consoles that MS and Sony launched significantly prolong this gen, beyond what even the already long PS360 gen offered us? If these mid gen consoles don't add at least a year or two to this gen's life cycle, then there's no point releasing a big ambitious new IP for it, when you could hold it back and use it to sell people on the next gen. And two, how big is the chance that the titles Phil just signed are really more like 4-5 years off, rather than 2-3? Because we all know, that the types of games he's promising, that people are asking for, are ambitious, and take a significant amount of time. A new IP will often go through years of pre-production, before even getting into the full swing of things. The way I see it, if Phil literally JUST signed these games within the last half year or so, and they're just now hiring artists (some of the first people you hire), and they are what we want them to be, then the time it could take for us to ACTUALLY see them release could easily take us to 2021, or maybe even 2022. Frankly, I'll be shocked if there's no new consoles by that point
Don't know if I'd believe the legitimacy of that... seems awfully specific, lol.

We have to remember, gen 7 at 7 years long was already the longest game generation ever, and 2020 will be 7 years for gen 8. Question is, will XOX keep getting support after Xbox 4 releases, as a budget entry point console, or will it be completely fresh start? |
I would say the CPU is the only reason why it wouldn't happen. I mean, otherwise it should be easily possible with the engines nowadays. You can run Battlefield 1 almost on a toaster and it can look awesome on a powerful PC. Same with Unreal engine and so on...
But that CPU...
I guess next gen will be 4k for every game +improvements in graphics in general. If XBO X can't manage to reach 4k even with lower graphcis settings for next gen games then let it be at least a 1080p console for these games.

Yep they are the perfect studio to reboot Perfect Dark, also it would be wise for MS to try to fund the next Hitman game and try to get it as an exclusive.

excellent news
Lots of activity here at Microsoft discussion. A sign of greatness incoming 😁 Anything positive gets downplayed instantly.
Just seems like the downplay is to get ppl to not buy the Xbox One X and point out stupid shit about the games. If you're not interested, why say anything at all?
Anyway another thing. I know they're making bank but why does MS have to keep MineCraft on PS platforms? They don't want cross platform take it away. It's their IP. It would be awesome imo but i know they're recouping that money back.
