Xbox One X will come packaged with a 1-month Xbox Game Pass subscription
JACK WILKINSON EMAIL @THEJACKAH 16 HOURS AGO IN LATEST NEWS

This year has seen 2 major announcements by Microsoft on its gaming front – first came Xbox Game Pass, a Netflix-style game subscription service. Then, this week, the company unveiled its Xbox One X gaming console at E3.

Many hoped that Xbox Game Pass would come packaged with new Xbox consoles, as it gives new gamers to the Xbox platform a whole host of games to get stuck in to – meaning, a new console comes with a bunch of games, no need to go and buy games separately right away.

Luckily, Microsoft believes this to be the right direction, too. Its Microsoft Store listing for the Xbox One X now shows that it will come with a 1-month Xbox Game Pass subscription, in addition to the always-expected 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial.

Do you think bundling Xbox Game Pass in is the right thing to do? Let us know!

Spencer: We Have Just Signed Exclusives That Won’t Be Ready for 2-3 Years, No Point in Showing Them

Xbox and, by extension, Head of division Phil Spencer have been criticized (even here on Wccftech) for the limited first-party content they were able to output this generation.

E3 2017 didn’t really change that, but Spencer still wanted to reassure fans that Microsoft does indeed have plans to invest more in first-party exclusives. In an interview with VICE’s Waypoint at E3 2017, he explained that the team focused on hardware first, then Xbox Live, and now it’s doing the same with exclusives.

When I started this job three years ago, hardware was a real focus for us because I thought we had more work to do there. Xbox One S shipped last year, the X is shipping this year, I love our hardware line. Xbox Live was something I wanted to focus, coming on Android, iOS, Windows PC because I really want people to play games on the place they want to go play.

Our first party is a critical part of that equation. Yesterday, I know people want to see what we’re investing in new.

We are investing in new things, we signed things just recently that I thought, ‘Hey, from a PR standpoint it would be really easy for me to put a trailer on screen’, but then I know the game is not coming for another two and half or three years, so I didn’t want to do that.

I understand some people would say, ‘Hey, that would give me confidence in the future of Xbox’…

This is a cheesy line, but I’ll just say, trust that this is important to us as a platform. From the top CEO of the company down, if you talked to Satya [Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO] he would say ‘I understand, we need to invest in content in the gaming space’.

That is important and we are going to invest. We have Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Lucky’s Tale, Ori and the Will of the Wisps…But I know what you’re asking about. Big, triple A console games, I hear that and I’m committed to that. Today I wanted to talk about things that if you’re going to buy the console you will be able to play, but I’ll continue to work to deliver games. We did on hardware, we did on platform and [backward] compatibility and we will do this on first-party as well. It is critically important.

What would you like to see? A brand new IP or a revival of some old ones? Personally, I hope one of those will turn out to be a full reboot of Fable.

Instead of getting red bull/monster/burgers everyday, save up $3 (place it in a piggy bank). In a period of 30 days, you'll have $100 saved. Then, five months later, you'll have that $500.

Don't even need that. Most were already willing to spend the 400(dead money). So you'd only need to save up for a month out of the 5 before it comes out or shortly after. It's 100 extra than you were already going to spend. I have no issue with the price

If it was $400 I would have been tempted but most likely still wouldn't have gotten it at launch.

$500 is too much, I'm sure I'll get one eventually but once it's price dropped a good amount, besides I still need a 4K TV lol.

I'm actually with you on the TV part. I'm hoping a good tv i want drops a extra 75-100 by the time the X comes out. Hoping to stay at around 1100 for Tv and X together.

Phil better have signed a bunch of AAA exclusives he needs average at least 2 a year (not counting Forza). Also none of that we count timed exclusives as exclusives crap, that pissed me off so much it's was like they think that we are stupid or something.

I'm going to wait for a cool looking special edition Xbox One X before buying one.

Next gen huh.....

Yeah, "nextgen title", like "buy an Xbox One X and don't get all the new games we invest in now"? Because that would be the next joke, Phil saying they first concentrated on hardware and now software but that hardware is useless for the new software haha.

I hope it's just bad wording and at least it means they invest in something new.

@those who say you can easily buy the Xbox One X for 500 if you can buy it for 400.

I think that's not the problem, the problem for many is that it will probably cost 150 more than a PS4 PRO at release. If PS4 Pro would be also 450 or something it would be different but to justify to spend like 40% more for a console which does get less games and where games won't look that much better on (for many, some Sony exclusives like Horizon look even better than any Xbox One X exclusive) is why it feels bad to pay so much especially when you don't know if that console will be already useless for new games in 3 years or something.

It's about competition, MS has that competition (which is much more successful than them atm) and that's why the price is just bad in many peoples opinion.
