Can't think of a single thing consumers would use it for so probably not
Jez heard that a few of the buttons on the front might stay but again, the heck would they be for? xD

Looks much better without the buttons.
Edit - Also didn't that Gif from Digital Foundry show the disc tray on the right side?...

Could show cool animations when turning on. Also could show notifications. That's more uses than it has for devs ;)
The big row of "buttons" look like standard dev lights.

Yeah disc slots don't seem to line up so it's probable the dev kit is not that similar to a consumer version.

Could Scorpio be built "upside down" like PS4, with the APU facing down so the fan and heatsink were on the bottom? That could explain the disc drive slot being closer to the bottom and on the left side of the dev kit. I would doubt they designed it like that though. I assume the dev kit is just put together much different and doesn't need to be as compact as the final retail consumer product. The dev kit was revealed to be more powerful than Scorpio, has more internal parts, the screen display, and has extra cards and such built in to make it easier for devs. All those reasons and more mean the dev kit needs to be larger than the actual retail console, unlike the smaller more compact layout in the pic above.
I wouldn't be surprised if the final Scorpio retail console was as thick as the white part on the dev kit, the same depth as the dev kit, and 3/4 the width of the dev kit. I could see it being closer to the same shape and size as Pro, give or take a little.

PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
