Forums - Sales - Will Splatoon be able to outsell any major exclusives from Sony or Microsoft this year?

Probably not Halo. All the others, it has a shot...

So Splatoon sold about the same as Bloodborne did in it's opening, despite Wii U having an installbase that's twice the size of PS4's. So I think it's safe to say there's no chance of it coming anywhere near Bloodborne's worldwide numbers.

The difference being that Splatoon is an online-focused Nintendo game that will probably have legs whereas Bloodborne is a JRPG that sells the majority of its LT sales in its first week.

Doubt it.

Maybe The Order? Probably not.

Halo 5, Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection and God of War 3 Remastered will sell better than Splatoon.

You have it the other way around. Online Only games like Splatoon are the ones that sell most of the LT sales in their first week, and then drop off quickly. look at stuff like Titanfall, and Evolve.

And Souls games have ridiculous legs, infact their opening numbers only account for less than 20% of the LT sales.

Splatoon and Bloodborne have pretty similar first week sales in Japan. So depending on sales worldwide it might be able to barely beat Bloodborne.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [GTA6]

It won't beat Halo 5, it won't Bloodborne and it won't beat the Uncharted Collection. So the answer is nope.

Riiiight. Is that why Mario Kart 8 still sells like crazy? And Smash too? What about Pokemon? Or Animal Crossing? I'm not talking about those shooters that are popular with mainly casuals and die within a month because a new hyped game comes along. Splatoon is a Nintendo game with good word of mouth, a very solid campaign and online that will be supported with new additions throughout the whole summer and will get a massive update in August. It should have good legs.

That may be true for other Souls games, but I don't think it will be the case for Bloodborne. It's an exclusive, and it had a massive FW, so I don't think many more sales are going to come out of it (at least in relation to how much the other Souls games sold after their respective openings). I'm thinking 2-2.5m max LT. It already fell off a cliff in Japan (where it had a 150k opening and I don't think it's reached 200k yet). Also, Splatoon was massively undershipped in Japan as it sold around 95% of its initial shipment, and it's still selling out now. Its second week will be very good over there. It's too early to say anything about WW numbers since, well...we don't have them, which is mainly why I think your original comment was premature.
