Umihara Kawase (I think the SNES original is the only indie developed in the series but I'm not 100% sure). I fell in love with that game XD

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (I think that's the one you mean) is a game developed by Capybara for Ubisoft and a spinoff of a classic PC RPG franchise which had its first entry in 1986. The franchise gained more popularity in the 90s with its TBS spinoff series Heroes of Might & Magic. Clash of Heroes is a great game but the opposite of an indie game imo. It was clearly developed to work/be published on as many platforms as possible and without a doubt completely funded by Ubisoft. |
And Rain and Journey are Sony games, and games like Broforce, Hotline Miami, Luftrausers, OlliOlli, Heavy Bullets etc were all published as well...Indie doesn't really mean "independent" any more, its typically used to describe a subset of smaller scale games, typically sold through digital distribution platforms.
I know, semantics suck, but the literal definition of indie is no use whatsoever, as it says nothing about a game. Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes is an indie game, by colloquial definitions
Thanks for the replies, everyone! I'm researching a lot of these now.
It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
Shovel Knight, Stealth Inc.2, The Swapper, Bastion, Transistor, Trine 2... These games come to my mind, but there are a lot of great indie games out there!
I was going to do with Mighty Number 9, but Shovel Knight it good too. I don`t think anyone expected for it to explode like that... It went from a small game to one of the biggest icons in the indie space.
MN9 surprised me because simply how much people want to play a Mega Man game again. : ) Good to see interest is still there...
And who would say indie games are poo??? Dem people be craaazy ; ) Indie games are making some of the most fun, interesting games out there today.

In other words: In your opinion small games funded by some of the world's largest game companies (e.g. Rain, Clash of Heroes) can automatically be called indie games.
Okay, why not. I add Nintendo's Captain Toad and Pullblox to my list. Oh, and Microsoft's ilomilo.

Steamworld Dig. I loved it and found the digging strangely relaxing. Only $6 AUD at the moment on the E-Shop
in case anyone is interested.....
Journey is the first one to come to mind. I bought the collector's edition on a whim when it was on sale, mostly for just the free PS+ trial. Hands down the best videogame I've ever experienced.
Other ones are Binding of Isaac, Guacamelee, Rogue Legacy and a whole ton of other PS+ free games,
