EDGE is pretty good. Very basic concept and graphics, but it's a blast to play, has a cool 'retro' soundtrack and is very cheap ($2).
I picked it because a had a little bit of extra money left on my e-shop account and had read a good review about the game. Didn't expect that much from it though, but it was better than I expected.
I also want to mention Gunman Clive. It didn't completely take me by surprise because I knew it reviewed really well, but I had a blast. Really cool artstyle as well.
