Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why all this negativity about Sony, all of a sudden?

Why can't I ever seem to make explosive threads like this?

My next thread will be highly controversial. Mark my words.

Then it will probably get locked...

First of all, this is my first thread, so please be patient and forgive me if I make some mistakes while making it. Also, I hope that this topic won't bring heated discussions, so please make civil comments, thank you.

Now, back on topic!

I can't help but feel how much negativity grew around Sony recently in this forum. And I honestly can't understand why. Sony recently released three exclusives in the first part of the year, two of them are new IPs and Bloodborne is considered by most people a masterpiece. Not to mention that PS4 still has most exclusives and therefore more games than the competition (I'm talking about Microsoft). Yet people keep complaining about how Sony first party output is insufficient (not that the competiton did better) or that they keep delaying games (like everybody do). And know, coupled with the fact that Xbox One won the last NPD, the same people expect nothing but disappointment from Sony during E3 and fireworks from Microsoft, just because Spencer has to tweet even when he goes to the toilet.

To those people: chill out.

Everyone knows that all of Sony's studios are working on new games, you don't have to be afraid of losing your investment. Tons of games will come for your console of choice when the time is right. Surely Sony too will have surprises for this E3. Now all of a sudden is essential to have all the huge, expensive AAA exclusive titles for the holiday season? While risking that your games don't sell well because of the many and great third party titles that are coming out? Is it so different to play Uncharted 4 four, five months later, just to make an example?

Please share your opinions.

For the second half of the year, Sony's line up is horrible compared to Microsoft. No one is wrong about that.

The point here to understand is how much of  challenge a console can face with just 3rd party titles. Sony will do immensely well without exclusives for the second half of the year for the fact that there are more 3rd party titles releasing during that segment. What has Microsoft shown so far with line-ups? One NPD?

Another is to consider for PS4 everything has been perfect. I say too perfect. Its selling well without price drop, PS+ users increasing and games sell and run well in PS4. So negativity is looking like a spot in a white paper which people are not used to.

What would you say if Sony announced the FFVII port was free for everyone as a token of appreciation during the e3 event. By free... i mean truly free -- Like PvZ Garden warfare was during the PSX.

Do you think this would be enough... or would people (XB1 fans) just say "Not an exclusive.. doesn't count"?

Not really sure what that has do with my post, but I would call it a nice gesture.  But of course people would complain about games not being exclusive.  Like how a lot of people don't consider half the Xbox library because the games are on the pc as well.

My point is that exclusives make up such a small part of the overall libraries these days that they aren't as big of a deal as people on these forums make them.  There are tons of games coming out, people can find all sorts of games to play, they don't have to be exclusive in order to play them.

I can agree with that.

I have noted that the negative comments about Sony amplify when there is an important event approaching, as if to countermeasure Sonys promotion. This was certainly the case with The Order and now it is the E3. The motivation could be simply of commercial nature.

the order has 63 on metacritic.  i think the people who were negative befoe launch were right...

and E3 will be 3rd party CGI trailers at the sony event, nobody likes those...

Oh you mean like Quantum Break? Wait, that is MS. Or simply showing off gameplay from the yearly CoD and Halo XYZ is enough to satisfy your varied gaming taste?

There are simply way to many Sony studios working on projects for 2+ years, and believe me, several of those will launch before years end

Not necessarily true. During the last holidays, Sony was getting bashed for its game lineup -- then it destroys the competition in spring/summer and now its getting bashed again.

People arent used to the ps2 days anymore or didnt have internet, they are angry that the ps4 winning and not the other consoles.

For me Bloodborne is the best game in this generation and that before, that game alone is better than all the other exclsuives combined on each system

Don't worry.... E3 is around the corner, and SOny will probably destroy the competition in Q4 lineup like they usually do

Not a chance in heck they will destroy the competition this fall (in NA/UK).  Halo is by far Microsofts strongest brand, and I just don't think Sony has a magic rabbit in their hat that can rival Halo.

That said, Tomb Raider and Forza are just fluff.

Just like MK8 did last year, right? Remeber the 15 minutes of fame Nintenod had back then? Also its safe to say that Halo is loosing popularity with every "new" entry in the franchise, and the lower then last-gen marketshare will not help them.

Same thing will be repeated this holiday. Last holiday PS4 won without price cut and no games.  But hardcore forum people like us will be disappointed.
