An alternative to jumping is to move towards the diving enemy and kill it with a diagonal shot. Granted, you've already said that moving and shooting is a big no-no.

A game is supposed to hide its limitations so you don't think about them, Super Metroid constantly reminded me of them.

Like Art of Balance hiding an entire game so they can display blocks and a static background with effects that serve no purpose other than to say "we could do that!"?

Ok. I kid. A little. =P

But really, it seems like you are passing the fault of your own shortcomings on the game.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.
Super Metroid will always be extremely overrated to me, but you guys obviously enjoy it, (more power to ya) and neither of us are going to change our minds, so further discussion serves no purpose.

I have and I've enjoyed all the installments I played.

It's one of Nintendo's smaller games..

Really!? :)

Small is relative.

Compared to Mario, Wii, Pokemon, it's pretty much tiny.

Donkey Kong, Zelda, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, are also much bigger than it.

Most of those, even including Smash Bros, it's still a small number.

The only Nintendo franchise I can name smaller than Metroid is Star Fox.  So yeah, pretty darn small.

Thats because you only go by sales numbers. It might not be the most popular franchise, but Its still well known.

Samus was one of the first strong female characters in video games and the fact that it has a style of games named after it. Metroidvania.

Taking into account the prime series count I've played and completed 3. If not, well I never played another metroid and I am vaguely aware other metroid games exist.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

is taht game that nintendo does not give the same importance as zelda or mario and its probably the most cool franchise nintendo have. Main character is one of the best in gaming. Probably the most awsome design.

More metroid games nintendo.

I can´t believe how much I agree with you this time.

I agree. Metroid needs to be pushed much harder by Nintendo.

Their issue is that it's not a series that appeals to the Japanese. They tried to rectify this with Other M, but that ended up doing worse than any Prime game in the end. At this point, western games perform decently in the east so they're better off just making it as western as possible to appeal to its largest demographic while striking a niche in Japan. For all we know, they could be doing this though.

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

Nearly 5% here, which is fairly low, but I am willing to bet some of the Nintendo people on this site will have found it surprising. WEven more surprising, you'll discover that it's not necessarily that well known in the US either. Of these 10 American teenaged gamers, 5 of the 10 have never heard of Metroid before.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Never heard of it until 6 months (when I registered on this site).
