People don't use voice chat to strategize, they use it to talk crap to each other.

Not in the competitive scene, which is what OP is talking about its potential. Say what you want, you cannot dismiss missing a feature like voice char over "hurt feelings" on an multiplayer focused game.

There's plenty of other ways to communicate with each other in the competitive scene.
Anyway, a sequel can always improve on the first game's shortcomings. Why do people not think further than just the first game?

And you're not capable of thinking for yourself?
Did Super Smash Bros. became competitive with its first game?

A lot of games have specific classes with specific weapons that fit their own roles. That makes coordination even more crucial, because if someone doesn't know how to play with class X, then you're in trouble.
It's important to notice that Splatoon is 4 vs 4. If you play other shooters with small teams, like TLOU, you will see that team work becomes even more important because each player counts way more. It's not like playing Resistance 2 and having a sniper that is incompetent, because there are 30 people and your team and at least 5 or 6 snipers.
As the map telling you what's going on, things aren't as simple. TLOU's minimap will tell you if the entire enemy team is on one position if they make any noise and that won't avoid that the random idiot on your team runs straight into them and tries to manhandle a full team.
| Versus_Evil said: The damage controlling over the voice chat is so silly,.... At the end of the day NN wanted to create a console for adults, but instead fucking baby them by playing over protective mother, for a "competitive" shooter, was a mute button to hard to put in the game, theres no benefits from removing a core feature of competitive FPS and online games in general, you shouldn't be defending that shit. |
Not as silly as the hate this game gets by people who don't even have a Wii U.
It's just voice chat... What matters to me is if the game is fun. Nintendo wants to create a console for everyone, not adults.
And I'm getting tired of people calling this a first person shooter.

Actually, yes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV6n0Mf3UdM
Back to the topic, what Torok said is all that matters: "Even if in tournaments people play side by side, how would the team practice? Sitting down in a room with Wi-fi and 4 Wii Us and 4 TVs?"
And even then, there won't be that way to practice until August. So no.
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

No. Smash 64 was not competitive. Those are just Melee players playing the first one for shits and giggles.
Ever heard of Teamspeak or Skype? They'll have to wait till August, but why is that a dealbreaker?
Just came to laugh at people putting competitive play and RANDOM match features(lack of voice chat) in the same sentence.
