Just imagine. One team with a sniper camping on elevated ground, protecting the roller going about, with a gunner paving his way while taking care of close range shooting.

Filling out as much ink as possible, to leave as little stealth possibilties and hiding for other team, an inkling on the other team hiding in a small blotch of ink the opposing team thought were insignificant, suddenly popping up.

The sniper being blindsided by the opposing team using a special attack after having located him. New strategy for sniper must be made up.

Nintendo does not care about it being competitive. There is no voice chat for multiple reasons and that is one of em'.
Battlefield will never be competitive like CoD and Halo, how do you expect this game to be?

A custom mode is going to be added where friends can team up with each other, voice chat isn't as big an issue in splatoon because each weapon set has particular roles and weaknesses as well as the map telling you everything that is going on.

I think it could have a good chance. It would be cool to see what kind of set up of weapons and gear teams would set up and what see what combinations work best. It would be cool to see what players come up with.

Maybe Ninten should set up some themselves to see if Splatoon tournaments take off. ; )

No, and not because there's no voice chat. I just don't think it'll gain that kind of following long term.

Maybe not this game, splatoon as a franchise can potentially. That said it is unlikely for now.

besides the lack of certain features the game IMHO the game isnt going to be near as popular as COD or Smash

dont need to be close as populaar as ssb/cod to be competitive
