I still wonder how Captain Toad got to that score. That game is really light on content. In a perfect world Splatoon deserves a much higher score than Captain Toad.

Because is not all about the content, it´s about the quality of the content. 7 hours of pure fresh top notch fun are better than 75 "ok" hours, much more if we talk about new good ideas and innovations. That´s why short games like Captain Toad and Portal can have an 81 and a 90. People are thinking like a machine here, they are comparing the content of any generic shooter without thinking this is actually something more, Captain Toad is a good way to see why you shouldn´t be so worried about this, only the single campaign of splatoon is probably as long and fresh as the 3 books in that game.

I agree.  Really bad decision for a shooter.  I usually turn my chat off, but im usually in a party at least.  THing is, Splatoon isnt the first kid friendly shooter this generation as some people are acting.  Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare was and it was excellent. Nintendo needs to learn to step out of their boundary sometimes and that will include going for the older crowd as well.  Voice chat is absolutely necessary in 2015

This is hard. I'm feeling optimistic and I'd say something between 85-90, because the game is fresh, fun, and the updates will be free. But, yeah, reviewers could be harsh and they could focus only on the initial lack of content, so, I'm not sure...
