Forums - Sports - NBA Playoffs 2015 NBA FINALS. Warriors win Series 4-2!

WHO WILL WIN THE NBA FINALS?

Golden State Warriors 53 66.25%

Cleveland Cavaliers 27 33.75%

Total:80

The Cavaliers lost 3 starters on their top 5. Any talk of 'Cleveland this' or 'Cleveland that' is just that, Talk. If Golden State wins this series, I tend to agree they will be one of the most overrated teams to win the championship in a long time. Every team they've faced in the playoffs has been playing has had key pieces injured.

They are fantastic, fantastic shooters but they hardly can handle a Cavaliers team that's getting zero help from their bench, is down 3 of their top players and is essentially running a 7 man team that hardly had an offensive presence outside of Lebron.

Game four was the first game that they've actually controlled the game from start to finish in this series and I firmly believe that's because the Cavaliers (from running 7 men and playing extended minutes) looked exhausted from the first quarter and beyond.

These two games serve as the Cavs best chance for winning the series. If it goes seven, I don't think they will have enough left in the tank to win it all.

Really reaching a bit now Chris. Is there any team you think couldn't beat the Warriors?

Let's not forget that for all their skills and accomplishments, this Warriors squad is completely new to the pressures and atmosphere of the NBA finals, and are up against the best player in the world, who in turn is bringing the experience of 4 straight appearances on this stage to the picture. Plus he's playing like a man possessed, because he doesn't want 2-4 on his finals resume. Whatever deficiencies the Cavs may have, you simply can't belittle the challenge the Warriors face, unless maybe you're of the mindset that Lebron is overrated.

Your whole argument is even more ridiculous to me considering that you're making it out like people are arguing this Warriors squad to be all time great. Ya they had a superb record, but I haven't actually seen any kind of general consensus that they're some hot shit, all time great team to go down in the books. Yet here you are talking about how they'll be overrated if they win, because there were teams with similar records (playing in a tougher league) who could beat them. Complete nonsense. If they win these finals they'll be a very good young team who made a breakthrough and got the job done. No more, no less. And you can talk down their accomplishments all you want, but they didn't win all those games, and get out of a tough western conference (in which they also performed that well during the regular reason) by accident. If they beat Lebron while he's averaging like 40, 10, and 8 or some crazy shit in these finals....that's not on accident. Doesn't make them all time great, but so what? Who said they are? Who is overrating them?

We can start talking about whether they are over or underrated if they play in a couple more finals over the next few years, because a young team with this much potential should have a lot of room for improvement, and they'll be expected to deliver on that.

I believe that this Warriors team as good as they look. Winning 67 games in the regular season while playing in the same conference as the Spurs, Rockets, Clippers, and Grizzlies (all of which won 55+ games), that's not overrated, that's domination.
Now let's look over the playoffs, the swept the Hornets in the 1st Round. - Even if the Hornets had all their players healthy, I seriously doubt that would've made any difference.
West Semifinals - They beat the Grizzlies in 6 games, What happened here was the Warriors got a little soft and cocky and that allowed Memphis to go up 2-1, and than when the Warriors got serious is when they dominated.
And while the may not have had Mike Conley 100%, I still don't think that would've made a difference.
Conference Finals, they beat the Rockets in 5 games, the same Rockets team that had the 2nd MVP candidate who finished behind Curry. And if Patrick Beverley had played... NOPE still wouldn't have done anything. Do you honestly think that Patrick Beverely is THAT important of a player, on the same level as James Harden, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Jason Terry, or Trevor Ariza?
The only time this year where the Warriors' skill, chemistry, or hype that has really been put into question is right now in the Finals.
And part of is because the other team has LeBron James, who has been the best player on the planet since 2011 and he's been to the Finals 5 times before this one, so he had the ONE valuable thing to give to his team that no other player on the Warriors had: Finals Experience.
The first 3 games, the Warriors were like deers in the headlights. Reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in any of your players' careers can do that to you. They got so caught up in it, that it threw them of their game and they strayed away from what made them so dominate all year long. And with LeBron James leading the attack on the other team, that's what enabled Cleveland to get the early advantage even though they were short-handed.
But notice in Game 4, the Warriors dominated like they used to. Part of it is because Cleveland is starting to look tired (especially LeBron), but another part I think is that now they're finally getting over the initial nervousness of reaching the Finals for the first time and they're starting to get back to their style of play.

And think about this too, whether they win or lose, the Warriors will have one more thing going for them at the start of next season than they did at the beginning of this season, Finals Experience. And this team is STILL pretty young. Out of this roster, the only players who are 30+ are David Lee, Andrew Bogut, Leandro Barbosa, and Andre Igoudala.
Stephen Curry is only 27, he's just about to enter his prime. As are Draymond Green (25), Klay Thompson (25), and Harrison Barnes (23). 4 of their 5 starters are young and fresh, and have room to improve and get better.
So as good as this team is now, they can get even better. THAT'S the thing here.
People may find them overrated now, but if they keep this up and their key players continue to get better, this could be serious force to be reckoned with for years to come. And that to the experience they will have from playing at this stage. This team has a good amount of potential to leave their mark on the NBA.

I honestly think The Clippers could have beaten this Cavs teams, which pisses me off they choked 3 games away.

Well the Clippers are done more then likely there will be major roster chances before the next season starts.  That being said the Lakers aren't going to be good anytime soon either even if Kevin Love ends up going there next season.  The Celtics will win another title before the Lakers will win one since they are loaded with first round draft picks for years to come.

How are the Lakers even relevant to this?

You seriously doubt it would have made a difference if all players are healthy? SMH.   Take three of the top 5 Warriors and take them out of this series and you let me know if they are even close to the Cavaliers in this series. They absolutely wouldn't be.

Every team the Warriors faced on the road to the finals, was missing a key player (Such as a point guard).

You say their 'inexperience' is why they've played poorly,  yet really the only tangible difference was that Iguodala played way above his head (Best all season) and the Cavs had their worst shooting night all season, including LeBron. That's ball game.  Curry and Thompson weren't a huge factor, like has been the case all season.

It was clear in game four that Cleveland was exhausted from all starters playing extended minutes on short rest.

I think Game 5 will see a very comparable game to games 1-3 where Cleveland's defense frustrated and held Golden State in check.  I think whomever wins Game 5, takes the series.

What I get from this massive wall of text that more or less you agreeing with what I'm sayig so lets come to a consensus if they win it all they will be the most overrated team to win it all in a very long time.  Most likely since the last Warrior team to win a championship.  So to put is simple if they win it all they will be the most overrated team to win a title in the last 40 years.

LOL you kidding yourself that Conley wouldn't have made a difference if he would have played in a all the games he would have made a huge difference.  Also the only reason they actually won 66 games in the regular season is because there where numerous teams in the Western Conference that had a lot of injuries besides the ones they played in the playoffs.  Let face it they are overrated now matter how you want to paint the picture differently.

I guess you can't handle the truth the fact is this team is extremly overrated.

I fully concede that I can't swallow that statement.

People that don't think that the Warriors are extremely overrated need to look back to what happened to the last time the Cavs and LeBron where in the finals they got swept by the Spurs and that Cavs team didn't have two starters missing in the finals. It actually had a 10 man rotation instead of the 7 man rotation the Cavs have at the moment.
