The day where we can play epic trading cards on motorcycles is getting closer!

It's not really attacking the momentum as much as riding it.

I see it differently. Back when all those Xbox One docs leaked, years before the console launched, AR was a part of their plans. But during that span of time, something unforseen happened and that was Oculus. I think that caught them off guard and instead of canning it and wasting the money, they're going to try an market this as some sort of equal tech... when it's not.

The difference between augmenting reality and CREATING it? Light years apart. I don't think it's going to catch on and I think they know it. This is about recouping as much A&D money as possible.

I really dont think that is it at all.  Companies make prototypes all the time that never gets released.  There is over 500 people  working on Hololens, and over 100 more positions still open for it.  Its very obvious that MSFT believes in Hololens.  The reaction that Hololens had once revealed was great.  It not only has the potential of being a great addition to games, but also outside of games.

Whether you like VR or AR, theyre both very different things.

Holo Lens is not going to be a big success for games. AR is just not that exciting for gamers.

I don't know what it is with the industry at times, they like to go down a path that gamers are not interested in.

That said I think Holo lens is really exciting in the Museum/visitor attraction market, especially when compared to the crappy radio "Tell a story" devices. This would be so much cooler putting images on screen as you walk around an exhibit.

This looks so cool. More interesting than VR.

More intresting for social applications.... (and work, educational/teaching).

VR > AR  by alot when it comes to gameing though.

(I see VR being a big hit with virtual concerts, maybe virtual movie theatures,.... porn.... other things than just gameing).

However I think AR has a place too.... Im just not sure how big a hit it ll be. Im pretty sure the gameing aspect of it will be alot weaker than the VR one though.

Both will be pretty niche in my opinion for enthusiasts.  I mean if you like VR more that is fine, but lets not spread around how VR is so much better (or AR) when it all comes down to preferences and opinions.  Theyre both interesting in their own right so lets leave it at that.

AR and VR are two sides of the same coin. I see both being successful in the long run and am excited for both.

Google also seem to be banking on both taking off. Google cardboard for VR, but has anyone seen this Magic Leap demo:

Well they're both trying to acheive different things. For the purposes of core/traditional gaming then VR probably is the best bet as it enables you to completely immerse yourself well beyond what is currently possible so it wouldn't be that surprising to find a number of people on a gaming forum arguing for VR over AR.

AR certainly shows some cool promise though. The next 5 years in both VR and AR will be quite exciting.

Yeah, that will certainly happen lol  But id rather not see every thread go into the route of one is better than the other.

Im very curious to see how AR + XB works together.  im having a hard time seeing how it can add features to games like Forza, Halo, etc  Im interested to see how it is implemented
