I see it differently. Back when all those Xbox One docs leaked, years before the console launched, AR was a part of their plans. But during that span of time, something unforseen happened and that was Oculus. I think that caught them off guard and instead of canning it and wasting the money, they're going to try an market this as some sort of equal tech... when it's not.
The difference between augmenting reality and CREATING it? Light years apart. I don't think it's going to catch on and I think they know it. This is about recouping as much A&D money as possible.
