Forums - Nintendo - Leaked Emails Reveal That Sony Wants to Make a ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Movie

https://youtu.be/XAHprLW48no

I like this concept, that said i dont see how a super smash bros would work out. People in this thread really need to separate Sony Pictures and Sony Playstation... or else their bias shows a little too much...

If they succeeded in making a good family movie with super smash bros that could actually grow it's appeal with a new audience that not just the nintendo fanbase. I still dont see how that would make a good movie though.

I would watch it, if it has a director like Joss Wendon or J.J Abrams.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

It's pretty silly to think that just because one Mario movie was bad, all possible Mario movies would be bad.

People were also... 'skeptical' about Hyrule Warriors because of the unmentionable 3 CD-I games. People are just silly like that.

Well I´m not only basing this off the Mario Bros. Movie, there was also that Mario show and the widespread opinion that Video game Movies mostly suck. Do you honestly believe there can be a good (with plot/character development/arc of suspense) Mario movie? I mean without them changing Mario into another "person"?

Also sorry for being silly. I know I shouldn´t do these silly things like forming an opinion based on my experiences in the past.

EDIT: Could I be wrong and this turns out to be a Masterpiece, universally praised by both critics and viewers? Yes I could be, but chances are it won´t be a universally praised masterpiece

Movies based on videogames were abysmal because they were mostly just exploitation movies named after popular franchises. This was a trend in the 80s and 90s, and the Mario TV show also falls into that category. The movie industry changed since then, and the trend stopped after a few critical and commercial failures.

Movies have always been diverse, and they can be based on almost anything. The audience only expects and demands a certain level of competence and quality. These qualities are arguably more common today than ever. It's silly to assume a Mario or a SSB movie would be lackluster when we nothing about the director and studio, and it's even sillier to dismiss it based on a movie that released just after people were starting to realize Vanilla Ice wasn't cool

.- -... -.-. -..

I'm all for it as long as it's good.

Well Alone in the Dark, 2x BloodRayne, Dead or Alive, Far Cry, Doom, Hitman, Max Payne, The House of the Dead, 2x Tomb Raider and all the Resident Evil movies are mid 2000ies and imo suck.
Sure Movies can be based on anything and yes technically with a good premise/storyboard and character set any movie can be good. But Mario is not a character that has any kind of depth (he´s an iconic avatar in great games)  and I am not sure that a "redone" Mario would satisfy fans.

Hmmm....

Though if made it will probally not be as good at this one.;

Doubt that it will ever happen
Probably just gonna be like that Mario movie leak from a couple months back

I would much prefer DreamWorks/WB/Pixar rather than Sony..

I don't understand why specifically Sony Pictures wanting to make a Nintendo movie is a big deal. Other than being part of the same company, Sony Pictures is a different branch than the gaming part. Sony as a whole doesn't exactly compete with Nintendo, just the gaming branch.

bet: lost
