Late ports of games don't usually sell good, that's why. And the "definitive edition" is not so... definitive lol. So that's why. That's also the reason why third party games in the WiiU didn't sell well, a lot of people played ME3 so they didn't care about the WiiU port.

Actually, good point. But the rerelease of DmC definitive didn't have content taken away like 3rd parties took from Wii U ports of games.

Bayonetta 2 was a much bigger release and a bigger deal than DmC DE was or will ever. You're comparing a brand new game vs a remaster of a game that didn't even break records to begin with.

Personally, I plan to get it cheaper later on down the road as I'm already busy with Dying Light, LBP3, Bloodborne and the Order (as well as InFamous: First Light and Transistor with PS+) but that's just me

To an extent I agree, but Devil May Cry is a bigger name game on a larger userbase.

Fair point, but the game itself affects. That must be the reason, really.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Let's look at what these two games had going for and against them (using a + - system)

DmC
+ 4x the userbase of Wii U owners (~20 mil)
+ The biggest name franchise in the hack and slash genre
+ Consumers who tend to buy maturer rated titles (supposedly)

- Remake

Bayonetta 2
+ New game

- Not the type of game people usually buy on this console (supposedly)
- Only ~5 mil people to possibly buy it
- A sequel to a game that never really sold that well to begin with.

Just saying, Bayonetta did not have all the advantages.

1. Poor port.
2. PS4 and Xbox One has more game variety / options than Wii U (no offense).
3. Meh game whereas bayonetta 2 was liked by critics.

None taken. I have a few games in my backlog and a few I need to buy still, so it's definitely enough to keep me entertained. A lot of the games we do get seem to have exceptional quality too (unlike the Wii years) which I think helps a lot as well.

Its because it is a remaster of a rather mediocre game that no one wanted on their PS4 or Xbone.

Plus you can find the original version in the bargain bin. I see no reason to pay full price for the same game.

The original DMC release on the PS4 was absolutely shambolic. That's a main reason right there. It looked absolutely awful on the PS4. Granted, it's now been patched and people (including myself) will now pick this game up at a cheaper price. You can't shove out a half assed port and expect it to sell, and it didn't.

in all seriousness, what was wrong with it? I played the first two levels without any problems without downloading the patch. Seemed fine to me. Do you think that the sales will go way up now? Cuz I seriously doubt that that was its main problem. People simply saw no reason to buy it. Some hate the reboot and its developers and others liked/loved it but already have the game, so why rebuy it?

For the record, I played and beat the ps3 version when it became available on ps+, but also bought the ps4 version day 1 to support the devlopers for, what I consider, an excellent game that they made.

God of war is a much bigger name than DMC, the God of War remaster will outsell it easily. Bayonetta was marketed and was praised by critics and gamers, perhaps some even bought a WII U for it.

So I guess those would be the reasons why bayo and dmc did what they did. The DMC series are quit dead these times like ninja gaiden.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

This is what was wrong wrong with it.  Check out the game before patch and after patch:

Pre Patch:

After Patch

The game at release for the PS4 was an absolute mess.

I don't think it stopped people buying it at the start, but it stopped a lot of people buying it as soon as word got out.  Whether this patch is enough to make a difference now or if its too late is a different matter.
