Forums - Gaming - So why do you think DmC Definitive Edition sold less its first week worldwide on the PS4 and XBone than Bayonetta 2 did on the Wii U?

Why did DmC Definitive Edition sell so badly?

The original DMC release on the PS4 was absolutely shambolic. That's a main reason right there. It looked absolutely awful on the PS4. Granted, it's now been patched and people (including myself) will now pick this game up at a cheaper price. You can't shove out a half assed port and expect it to sell, and it didn't.

PREDICTIONS FOR END OF 2015: (Made Jan 1st 2015)

PS4 - 34M - XB1 - 21m - WII U -12M

Around the Network

It's a remaster of a game that didn't do amazingly well the first time around.

This must be one of those situational threads created to make the Wii U look better by taking two games, unrelated in their release and somehow try to make a point in the Wii U's favor...I think I got it right.

1) original to date hasn't cracked 1.5 million even after great reviews and price drop across 2 systems in their peak at launch of this game.

2) no one asked for it

3) graphics were overrated then as are now

4) story and dialogue weren't all that

5) game was short and repetitive (corridor slasher, platforming, rinse and repeat, boss)

6) not much marketing

7) came out around sametime as Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2, BF:H, MKX and with Witcher 3 round the corner

Because it's just a cheap remaster/cash grab.

Because it's a worse game than DMC4 and got bad rep because the devs acted like idiots toward fans of the series as well as the old games from the franchise.

The game is actually not as terrible as could have been but that bad PR disaster that started from the first reveal to post-launch after the game had flopped when they said old Dante belongs in Brokeback Mountain during GDC.

The game may have won over even the more bitter fans that hated the redesign, but because they were arrogant little shits, now they're stuck doing iOS games. I hope DMC4:SE comes out and sells at least 5 times what this did.

Here's an image from that dreadful GDC.

Cause sex sells. I'm kidding. I don't know.

Probably because PS4/X1 gamers have too much to play with new games coming out regularly and just haven't come around buying this one.

Not every remasters are bound to succeed especially those that werent ask for.

Bayonetta 2 was a much bigger release and a bigger deal than DmC DE was or will ever. You're comparing a brand new game vs a remaster of a game that didn't even break records to begin with.

Personally, I plan to get it cheaper later on down the road as I'm already busy with Dying Light, LBP3, Bloodborne and the Order (as well as InFamous: First Light and Transistor with PS+) but that's just me
