1. Bundle it with a select number of PS4s. This will make the mainstream PS4 consumers want stuff that their friends have. Aka, a Vita.
2. Stop bundling the Vita after about 6 months or so.
3. Put more effort into handheld game development.
4. Support Vita's social capabilities
5. Watch hardware numbers soar

By not making it in the first place?

Uhm yeah I could post the same kind of picture about the Wii U and my argument would be invalid due to almost all of those games being multiplat. Why would you get it on the Vita if you can get it on a home console.?

To play good games when I'm not at home? It's the main purpose of a handheld!

Why do some people ignore the advantage of a mobile game device? Playing games wherever you like.

Want one thing that might increase interest? Create a 3000 model that uses regular MicroSD cards, cut out the back touch pad to ensure it's cheaper.

Finally, open up the OS and turn a blind eye to homebrewers. It'll be like a more powerful PSP that can emulate a lot of stuff.

They can't, but they could probably help its sales if they make a cheaper model that just uses SD cards.

Your whole logic on the Monster Hunter thing seems really backwards to me. It's not about them "not wanting to upgrade the series", but more like I imagine they looked at the user bases of each portable and saw 50m vs 10m (At the time this was lower) and wanted to go with the one that could get to more audiences.

Also, in my opinion I don't think there is any "saving" the Vita anymore. Sony has left it by itself for too long and I think people have lost faith in them supporting it.

The problem is that every single time Sony actually does release a first party game on it, there seems to be immediately right after is a long while where they just don't release anything. They need to keep the releases going and not just release 1 then wait and release another. That's at least what it seems like to me, I could be wrong though.

Also I agree about the games thing as well. Sony has done a decent job of getting big name IPs on the system such as Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet, but what about the others? Why was there not a God of War PS Vita game, or a LocoRoco or Patapon game? When I think of the PSP I think of classic games like Patapon and LocoRoco as well, why have they not brought them back?

The only place the Vita has seemed to have found semi-success (I say that loosely) is in Japan because compared to everywhere else the Vita is actually selling quite decently there and has gotten a lot of support over there as well.

I've started wondering though that maybe if other first party games like Killzone: Mercenary eventually sell over 1 million on the Vita, maybe that will influence Sony to actually see that it can be a profitable system and worth the time and money to create more games for.

Honestly though I think if Sony does want to try and "save" the Vita in anyway they just need to really get back up and do a huge revision of it. Have a new model created and launch it with a price cut like you said, and actually start putting big games on it and supporting it a lot more. Then I imagine Vita sales could really start picking up. Also advertise it consistently and get the word out there.

Well, in my opinion Sony abandoned the Vita long time ago. They aren't even trying. It plays a minor role in all Sony events. And the vast majority of Vita support comes from third parties (in fact, third party support in Vita is great, in spite of its sales). I'm not trying to offend anyone, but, really, it seems to me that Sony don't mind about it. They are trying to get all the profits they can and then let it die.

I actually like Vita. It has a great catalogue, great third party support... But I can't help but feel that they aren't even trying to do something to its situation.

You for sure don't watch TGS.

Last TGS there was more Vita than PS3 and PS4, combined.

But yeah, in the West it totally jumoed from PS3 to PS4 and Vita didn't got attention.

Sony doesn't even do marketing about it, and they know very well how marketing is something important.

I would like to see they at least try again, marketing it strongly together with the PS4, they have such a winning horse and don't use it to benefit the Vita as well, should have being doing it since launch, was a good time to do it, the hype was exploding, the Vita was still not old, there could have been minor projects going for Vita trying to tie it to the PS4.

Fair enough. The support in Japan is good, it has plenty of games and announcements. I forgot about TGS, but it was great for Vita. And Vita sells well in Japan because of Sony trying and delivering. Sadly, the situation in the West is poor, and I think it's too late to revert it. Maybe Sony gave up too soon...
