Forums - Gaming - [IGN ARTICLE] HOW AND WHY BLOODBORNE LOST ME - (This is not the review)

In my experience, I had more problem with the common enemies than the first boss. I beat the first boss on my second try but did die a few times from common enemies especially when I was attacked in horde, I was also using at first the wrong approach due to old habit from the souls games.

Yeap a lot of guys are making this mistake...

You guys, this is not the review, this is just the opinion of one of the editors.

If this was the reviewer talking,  the game would have gotten a bad score.

One of the IGN Xbox reviewers gave Aliens a bad score to Aliens Isolation because he sucked at it. Thats how IGN handles some of their reviews. They are very entertaining but slightly unreliable if you want a proper response from all-around gamers.

I had the same problem.  I killed the boss on the second try, but got my ass handed to me a few times when I got surrounded by lesser enemies.

There's nothing wrong with him expressing his opinion. His almost week long rant on Twitter is fairly worrisome though. I don't believe his opinion is "bad" but I don't agree with it. Somewhere along the line video games fell into a mindset of where everything has to play laid out for the player and save points need to be in abundance.

I'm glad FROM is going against the grain because one of the best parts about playing video games for me is the unknown and figuring things out myself. There's nothing wrong with either side but I don't believe ALL video games need to be geared towards Mr. Stapletons preference.

yeah I know, I already figure that out, I was just giving my experience in the first 3 to 4 hours.  its much easier that way.

Edit: I'm also taking advantage of recouping my health loss everytime I got hit, just have to attack in a certain amount of time to get it back.

Yeah I know Ryan had a bad reason for giving that game a bad score. And that's Ryan, who is indeed a fanboy, but this guy is not reviewing the game, and is just giving an opinion on it.

So basically....

tldr: This game is too hard so I hate it.

To be fair, his complaints are reasonable. One thing is a hard puzzle or a hard boss to read/learn all the patterns, another thing is being "hard" because you are forced to repeat a lot.

I think this has something to do with the fact that i enoyed Dark souls way more than Demon souls. It felt hard without being boring or repetitive.

One-shotting a boss isn't impossible and I'd be very surprised if players weren't able to do so. Don't act like you need to chereograph everything in order to suceed.

The first boss is a joke point?> everything you said is BS, you SAY you bought the game doesn;t stop one from having biases.

He don't know what is saying too because you don't need to kill any boss to reach 1 Insights to use to ask coop help lol

Yeah I realised after, Stapleton is a moron. He is unprofessional. The senior editor of the biggest game site on the web, ridiculous.  he did the same with bayonetta.

What did he say about Bayonetta? lol

This article might as well have been written by me. Only I didn't last 12 hours, I gave up after about 5 hours of going in circles encountering the same enemies, killing the same enemies and getting killed by a variety of others.
I appreciate people who love it, I do believe it deserves every single metacritic point and every single sale, but it is way too frustrating for me, and I just didn't see the point in continuing the aggravation for 60 more hours.

I knew the game was not for me, I decided to give it a try, I really wanted to enjoy it, but in the end it got deleted and returned to a friend on Wednesday night.

Had you played any previous Souls games before?

No, never. Those kind of games are not something I enjoy. And I don't mean the difficulty, I just don't enjoy sword and sorcery type games (or movies for that matter), and I never played any games like The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Dark Souls and the kind...just not the setting that attracts me.
