They definitely need one for Splatoon coming out in a couple of months.

I counted several Wii U titles alone they could showcase NOT covering anything new, or LOZ or Splatoon related. They have plenty of titles they need to get into a little more with just the titles already announced. How about an Xenoblade X localized trailer with a region specific release date, how about the first screenshots or video of Star Fox (a game that will be released this year and before LOZ), What about the first pics or video of Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, what about a new look at the revamped The Devil's Third (also supposedly coming out this year, and I'm guessing summer so fairly soon at that), how about some more news on the Fire Emblem 3DS game supposedly coming out this summer, what about the game Tantalus is porting over (which they said would be announced soon back in Jan I think), what about Fast Racing Neo which we got one screenshot of and know nothing about, what about showing full character screenshots of Project Treasure, or how about a more in depth look at Rodea The Sky Soldier? I'm also not talking about announcing new titles, that is what E3 is for. I'm talking for getting the word out on games that are months away from releasing that we DO know about that are going to be completely glossed over at E3. Now is the time to get some hype out for game that are not titled Legend Of Zelda. |
Why talk about games that are releasing > 6 months from now? Or more understandable, why talk about games releasing after E3, when you have E3 for that?
Reading at Screamapillar's comment, I remembered why we need another Direct. DLC and the few games releasing before E3.
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Well february i wasnt expecting one because all new games were releasing, so i think end of march or next week maybe, i dont think we have to wait until april
wtf Nintendo Directs come out about every 2 months, sometimes more. I don't see why this is such a big deal.
bet: lost

How they are presented doesn't degrade the importance of publicizing and hyping upcoming software. |

I heard they rented out the most floor space at E3. Wasn't there also news about them renting a conference room for a live conference? If all this is true, then it means that they are most likely stacking their deck for E3, which isn't a bad thing to do.
| Screamapillar said: There's usually almost always at least eight weeks between full Directs. One every two months or so. It's only been 8 1/2 weeks since the January Direct. I would only be concerned if it passed March and we still didn't have one. Of course, the longer we have to wait between Directs, the better the announcements when we do get one. We need updates on MewTwo DLC, Mario Kart 8 pack 2, Splatoon launch details, etc. I'd be surprised if we didn't have one next week or the week after. |
This sounds about right. ![]()
There's also been rumbling of some media guys being invited to Seattle for something. With that, Sakurai confirming that Mewtwo is basically done, and the Mario Kart DLC timetable approaching, there's certainly a lot of signs pointing towards a Direct sooner rather than later.
| bigtakilla said: I don't get it... We know we are about to come up on some dry months due to the black out pre E3 (At least that's what happened last year, there were no directs from May-August, granted E3 in itself was one giant direct) but it just seems weird that there has only been one direct this year. And while I think we are all pretty confident there is going to be one next month, I think we are also all pretty confident that it was be a Splatoon specific direct. Then we hit May and the blackout begins.... I don't know, but I keep coming back to the question why.... |
I don't understand, do you expect Nintendo Direct nearly every month!?
Last year we just one normal Nintendo Direct in february until E3 and few game specific ones.
I expect new Nintendo Direct next week, after that probably one Splatoon specific in may and thats would be all until E3.
Personally, I'd prefer to not get another Direct (that's not Splatoon-only, because that's bound to happen) if that means we get a fully-loaded E3. Which I think is what they're planning. I understand they don't necessarily need to do that, but it makes sense.
Iwata is too focused on mobile gaming now. He is planning a Nintendo direct based solely on mobile gaming.
His vision of a mobile-only Nintendo future is happening right in front of us!
There won't be anymore Nintendo directs based on WiiU. ZeldaU is the final goodbye to console gaming, a bone thrown to the fans as his evil schemes become reality and we get iZelda as the next big game in the franchise, exclusive for iOS.
