i hate the gameplay in the demo, just felt completely terrible to me, this will be the first numbered Final Fantasy i won't be buying ever.

Leveling up at the camp is a fantastic idea. They did a good job to make your progress through the day counts. Leveling up by pausing the game and go to the menu would have affected that feeling of "daily adventures". Brilliant design.

As for the leveling up itself, I definitely prefer more complex system. As far as I know, there is no information whatsoever about it right now.

Gambit system was already confirmed. Just like more variety of weapons and equipments.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the depth presented in the battle system even with the limited content in the demo. The demo in general is not all that balanced. You level up way too fast which almost removes the need to plan things and act carefully... Except for the Behemoth fight.

My current stance is.
The game will be great. as long as I don't expect a traditional FF experience.

* The imprecise targetting system needs a lot of work and adjustments. For starters, give us the ability to change our locked-on target with L2/R2. And why do I have to hit my enemy after holding R1 for the lock-on to become permanent?!

* Another thing I disliked is the powerup that gradually consumes your entire MP (forgot what it's called) it encourages aimlessly using the same ability (R1+X) which deals a ridiculous amount of damage while making Noctis pretty much invulnerable. Yes, soon your MP will reach zero and the side effects will kick-in, but recovering your MP is a cake-walk unless you're surrounded by a horde of enemies. This mode should be toned down. Recovering your MP should also be more difficult..

*Press R3 after locking on any enemy to make it permanent.

*As for the MP and Kinghswords ability. It is a balance issue. Leveling up in general happens too fast, you become over-powered for the regular enemies. If you try to kill the Behemoth without using the summon, you will not feel powerful or invisible. The Behemoth acts fast, so consuming all MP the is very risky.

Agreed on the rest. Especially the party members in the narrow cave. Uh.

The game doesn't have the full leveling system implemented yet, so be patient. You can't even view your own party's abilities yet

What I want most is some sort of gambit system and a better camera. I'm pretty happy with everything else

I really like the way it plays in general, though I am a little thrown by the ability to dodge, sprint and jump

Having said that, Tabata definitely seems to know what he's doing. Crisis Core is one of favourite games of all time and Type 0 is impressing me in its first hour. Hopefully it doesn't because more "actiony" than it is now, maybe XVI can return to a nice turn based combat game!

I'm enjoying the demo alot but I'm worried about the level of customization options in the game. It seems like it's taken a casual approah, where is the equivalent sphere grid or the gambit board? And I'm not really a fan of leveling up only when you go to the camp.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

First of all, the demo is without magic (for Noctis, Ignis uses Cure fairly often), so we know nothing about that. Also, it shows that you can level up and attain new weapon skills, but that it's simply not available in Episode Duscae (when you camp out, below your level progression it shows where you would track your skills). Also keep in mind the summon available, while totally sweet, is only a placeholder. That means we really have no idea how the summon system will work or what other kinds of bonuses it grants.

To Recap: Weapon Skills, Magic, and summoning (in its final form) are not present in the demo. We essentially got a demo with only the "Attack", "Skills", and "Items" commands, as well as two limit breaks (Armiger and the Summon).

@thinkman FFX10 sphere grid was kinda casual. there was no skill involved. its pretty much grinding so you can complete the grid lol.

It wasn't challenging, but it's nice to have some influence over your characters growth.

Regarding camping, I think it would be really nice if they had campfire stories at the same time, that you could listen to, or skip if you prefer.
Those who have played Legaia 2 probably know what I'm talking about.

I played about 10 minutes of Legaia 2 before I started crying and put Legaia 1 back in.

It's about a year off I'm guessing. I think the final version will have a lot of differences!

To the OP: make those concerns known to Tabata, it is the reason he made the demo! I'm pretty sure there will be a whole lot more weapons, which may or may not equate to a more customizable combat, but I hear you loud and clear when you talk about customization of the characters.
