Remasters are to make money and being a remastered game there will be two potential buyers those who had the game before and those who didn't.

They add to the library while that can be more valueble to someone who hasn't played the game and can even be nice for those who no longer have the system or just wanted to upgrade. They can also build a bigger audience for a sequel when it will be comeing to the same platform.

Plus in cases where they are done well they add content like a game of the year edition as well as better performance/ visuals

A new game will have even more potential buyers...

and take more people and resources. Our souls there never be ports and game of the year editions either? New games need new ideas and much more creativity.  Remasters can be fully outsourced.

You might dislike them but that doesn't make them pointless. You might never own one but that hardly stops others from wanting and buying them. You can blame them for lack of other content but more likely there wouldn't be any extra new games had none of this gens remasters been made.

Any remaster ever - Good
Why?? I get to play a game I missed out on, if I dont want it I dont buy it.
Its just like anything else, if your against it then vote with your wallet. If there happens to be a crowd that does want them and its not you then thats too bad. Others shouldnt lose out because you dont like it.
if there isnt a crowd for it then it will slowly stop happening.

Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition (United Front Games, Square Enix Europe)

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (Crystal Dynamics)

Metro Redux (4A Games)

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected (Volition)

DMC Definitive Edition (Capcom)

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition (Omega Force)

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (Team Ninja)

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (Blizzard Entertainment)

Resident Evil Remastered HD (Capcom)

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (Square Enix)

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (Hexa Drive)

Grim Fandango Remastered (Lucas Arts/Double Fine Productions)

Coming 2015:

BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma Extend (Arc Sytems Works)

Darksiders II: Definitive Edition (Vigil Games)

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition (Capcom)

God of War III Remastered (SCE Santa Monica Studio)

Ultra Street Fighter IV (Dimps/Capcom)

I just want to add this to my post shown above to prove that game developers use remasters as a means to test their PS4 engine.  Capcom is really the only repeat offender, but they are also the one game developer that is going under as well.  So how can you blame them for releasing remastered games to then hopefully make new games in the future?

RAWR! No backwards compatibility *grumble* *grumble* Too many last gen games on my new gen system! *angst* *discontent*

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Just another option for me as a consumer.

I never played the metro series so I picked up Redux and it was an amazing purchase. I will be picking up the borderlands ps4 remaster set as well, because I did not play it last gen. There many games which I could not play for some reason or the other and I would not mind picking up remastered versions of them because they would be undoubtedly better

Good games like Darksiders 2, which was not a huge hit, being remastered is a positive step because it can help fund a sequel.

Well they could have done better why not make God of War Collection which include Ascension and God of War 1 +2 as well? For me if they have a reason to improve the learning curve on new system and to reach more market, i don't mind, it's nothing new, this kind of trend had been done a couple times in past generation.

People who don't want to play they don't have to buy or people who have bought and played, they don't have to buy.

Simple isn't?

so ....

There are games that go the extra mile in their re-releases like GTAV the difference is like night and day and they added a first person mode.  Theres games I missed last gen like Metro Redux that Ill buy and there's games like Darksiders 2 that are re-releasing to most likely fund a Darksiders 3 which i'm all for.

%They are not bad, they give me something to say I am right about.

Nothing wrong with these re-releases except for how greedy some of them have become. Last gen Sony and others released upscaled collections of 2 to 3 games, so I find it hard for companys to justify releasing only one Game and charging what they do. Pretty much all these re-releases have been price gouged and that bugs me. $80 for dmc here in Australia is ridiculous.

I just want a Dragon Quest 8 HD/Remaster on Vita damnit! Not on iPhone.... ;-;
