I love remasters, because they give me a chance to replay games that I missed.
I had no console at the end of last generation, so "definitive" editions of Tomb Raider, GTA, and DMC are great for me.
I have the Sly collection on Vita and am loving the chance to relive memories. Once I've finished it, I'll be picking up the Ratchet and God of War collections, and I'm seriously bummed out that the Jak collection was in such a bad state, and it's almost guaranteed that it'll never be patched.
People who say they're a waste of resources don't know what they're talking about. It's up to the publishers to decide where the resources are spent, and, usually, they have a good idea on where to spend them. Hell, from what it looks like, remasters are one of the best uses of resources out there, because they make a lot of profits while appealing to the hardcore fanbases. A lot of games these days are either for "the filthy casuals" or fail to make the money that the publishers were expecting.
