It's the next handheld. Why do people forget these things every gen? Handhelds come first when it cometh to Nintendo.
If you like Nintendo games get the WIiU if not then why would you even buy their next console which most likely will be out at some point in 2017

Truth, get a WiiU
34 years playing games.
It was just to reassure people that they wont be abandoning the the console market. Dont expect the NX to launch before November 2017.
Not really. Iwata said "platform". That could be almost anything. It could be an entirely new device, it could be a new gaming API, new hand held, new home console, new fusion console, new online platform, new tablet device... There are so many possibilities. If it does end up being a new console, it doesn't makes that much difference anyway because he said it won't be announced till 2016 which means it likely won't release till mid to late 2017.
Basically, if you want to buy a Wii U, you might as well. There is already a great game catalogue and there looks to be more on the way.
Nobody can make the decision for you, so take a peek at what is out there and see if it interests you. If not, then prob not.
If you do, I would highly recommend a crap ton of games lol.

Yeah, thought about adding that, but if he/she has played it on the GC, even though it's much superior on the Wii U, it's still not exclusive and might not be a reason for the console :D

you can get a 200$ 8gb wiiu at gamestop right now. Nx won't be out till xmas 2017 at the earliest!!!! btw, go cavs!
oh and i forgot. There's a damned good chance the nx is a handheld.
