But that's not really it, is it? Sling TV has 20 channels vs. 53 here. Sling has no DVR, very little on demand programing, and is limited to one device at a time.

Yeah, I've just been reading this type of comment on GAF. I really thought that Sling was by far the better option but clearly I was completely wrong.

The PS5 Exists.

This is even better than I had anticipated. I was paying $186 for cable/internet on Comcast before I dropped the cable, and I had less than the elite tier offers. Now I can do $65 for comcast internet + $60 for PS Vue Core = $125 a month, saving $61 a month.

Hopefully, they will pick up ABC/Disney in time, but for now at least I can watch what is missing on PlayStation Video for very little additional cost.

Now the wait for it to come to the Seattle/Tacoma area begins. I have 12 households already lined up to ditch comcast for PS Vue once it is available.

Damn $50. I may stick to SLickTV on Xbone for the $20 per month and it has ESPN

not sure how you can say damn to $50.  a cable package in chicago starts at $90..

This.

You can't even get basic cable for that ifrom Comcast.

Good luck with that!

I agree, in theend I dont even think any of these services are worth it.  in the UK its different but nothing could replace Sky for me.  They wouldnt have anywhere near the same content, services, features and  multiscreen/device options that I can have.

This sums things up well for the US.

It's almost sad how much better Sky is... As well as having all the channels, it has a good UI, great on demand features, great search features, great use of mobile apps. The only thing is struggles on is the price...

I tried this to see what services I would need, if I lived in America, I'd basically need all of them. And it's not like they provide great quality to go with the prices. PS Vue is only 720p, I prefer my 4k Netflix*.

I'm not sure I do want fully a-la-carte, as then I'd never try different channels. There are 3 or 4 channels in the UK where I basically only watch 1 TV series a year and I'm not sure I'd pay just for that one show. It basically just makes it much harder for new chanels to grow or emerge

* Okay, my 4k Breaking Bad repeats and Better Call Saul. But more is coming!

The only way I see this really taking off is if its made available in various non Sony devices

"better".

not sure how things are in europe but america has very little choice.  on the one end you get an "all you can eat buffet" from the cable company but most packages clock in over $100,..  most of my friends pay about $160 - $190 (including internet).

on the other end you have netflix which costs $9 but has "very little" content.

netflix has been great for me because i don't watch much tv (i game instead) but my wife constantly tells me how much it is lacking.  still, she's unwilling to go all the way up to comcast's package because it costs too much.  since we already have the playstation my wife very well may demand this.  she was already interested in it before at least in a curious way,..  she wanted more details but she was interested.

in america at least i think there will be an audience.  the market is just ripe for distruption right now it really is a matter of who does it.   apple has a lot of brand name going into this but sony is now on the market so who knows,.. maybe they will "win".   sony NEEDs to support more devices to really succeed but if they do it fast enough this could be a really good business for sony.

That's too much for me personally. I did want to get if it was in my price range though.

This will certainly be the case. It doesn't matter how good a service is, or how much it costs if people can't access it.
