Forums - Gaming - Sony and Nintendo need to announce something big at E3

Yeah, but it sucks that one individual opinion sways E3. I've seen Nintendo win E3 before and those tend to be Nintendo's best years for gamers. Sony has the sales, but as far as games are concerned I cannot say whether I believe they deserve it even as a PS4 and Xbox One owner. I can definitely see that better days are coming as I know Sony are late bloomers. That whole "Greatness Awaits" thing is so true with them, because we're always left waiting. Microsoft always bursts out the gate with third party exclusives. Look at the Xbox, 360 and now the One. Microsoft is investing in new IP's but the new ones I hope survive this war and give birth to sequels are Quantum Break and Scalebound. I believe with all of my heart that Gears 4 will have a CG trailer at the next E3 so a lot is riding on what happens here. E3 can affect the holiday expectations of sales within certain brands. Fourth quarter matters a lot though and thats where Microsoft tends to win. I fear less for Microsoft on fourth quarter. I am playing my Xbox One right now much more than my PS4. Hands down MS has come to the show ready to fight. The question is will Sony live up to their great name and show some fight? Right now they are missing punches while Microsoft is throwing all of the landing blows. Nintendo is just fighting to get noticed.

What blows have microsoft landed on the PS4? Did i miss something?

I am talking abou the principle of the matter. Just because you're winning it doesnt mean you should sit on your ass. Look at how Sony turned the tables on Microsoft. They were behind by like eight million consoles and year after year they kept cutting down the gap. Anything can happen. When you own both consoles you tend to notice the difference between your time on both.

I don't really think there's a ton of pressure here.

Sony is doing very well obviously, another look at Uncharted and maybe debuting God of War PS4 should be enough to make people happy. Plus playable Street Fighter V and all the usual third party stuff.

Nintendo ... lets be honest they're kinda just treading water for the rest of the generation. They'll show what they have but it's not like there's some "OMG! You have to turn the Wii U around!!!!" type burden on them. We all know the Wii U is going to be a low selling console.

Their "megaton" was the smart device announcement, so they've already gotten that out of the way. I guess maybe they could show their first smart device games at E3?

Nintendo has all the power at the moment I think. They have Zelda, Starfox, Xenoblade, etc. I doubt Sony and Microsoft will have nothing but they do need something pretty big at this point.

I don't think those will be of much help.

Source?

IGN reported in Spetember 2013 that the Xbox 360 had reached 80 million. It took the PS4 till November. Sure Xbox 360 had the lead, but its still winning. PS3 is either overtracked or Xbox 360 is undertracked.

If true, a virtual tie for second place 20 million units behind the leader isn't being the "king".
The king last gen was Nintendo.

Sales? Sure they likely aren't going to help.

Library wise they definitely will. Wii U has the better library by far currently.

None of the 2 other systems are 20M behind the Wii. Also, kings of a generation don't die years before the next one starts.

I'm expecting Nintendo's E3 reveals for Wii U to be relatively modest; nothing massive on the level of open world HD Zelda, but rather lower key stuff on the level of Yoshi's Woolly World, Captain Toad, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. If I had to guess, I'd put my money on Diddy Kong racing 2 by Retro.

As for Sony, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Their momentum is so strong, they could ride the year out on multiplats alone. Heck, if they announced tomorrow that they've decided to adopt the same DRM Microsoft was castrated for proposing in 2013, I reckon gamers would roll with it.

do you think this low of us sony fans? i would buy an xbox one or just go straight PC again if sony would try this.

It's the 8th gen now. Wii won.

The race doesn't stop when another gen starts.

Catching up to the winner years after the finish line isn't winning.
