Forums - Nintendo - Just how big will Star Fox for Wii U be?

I honestly feel like Star Fox is going to be a huge let down and feel more like a collection of mini games rather than a full title

Me too. Shiggy even said somewhere that they might release it in chunks. Which would explain the early release date. And be extremely depressing.

The games you mentioned are Space Sims. Big universes benefit their gameplay. Would a large procedurely generated universe benefit Starfox's gameplay? I don't think so. I would rather a small handcrafted universe with planets that aren't constructed by algorithms.

Are the screenshots you gave from the old starfox games?

Obviously, there´s no screen of the new Star Fox :(

I know nothing of the game so it wasn't obvious to me.  If they've shown nothing is it likely to be delayed?

The last picture is a screen from tech demo of the motion controls in the new Star Fox, that only the press saw. That´s nothing like the game is going to be.

It wasn't a tech demo. They made it clear that it was an alpha build. That's exactly what the game is goin to be like.

A tech demo then.

I'm afraid you'll be very disappointed, spemanig.

Even the Gamecube had better bigger space fight games like Rogue Leader, so it's not a question about how powerful the console is but a matter of what do Nintendo wants to do with it. And taking into consideration that Nintendo only had a prototype at last year's E3, that they were still looking for a team to make the game, and that it will be released this year before Zelda, all signs point to a small scale Star Fox game, not an AAA game.

Expect a new Star Fox 64 with better graphics and a 40 $/€ price point, just like Captain Toad.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I think the two tech-demos Miyamoto showed at E3 last year is a part of Star Fox and if that is true i am not optimistic. I wish it would be better than Command, they probably should remake Command with new controls. Sorry for going off topic

I'd be fine with that, especially if there's episodic DLC to expand the game maybe later on.

Not every freaking game needs to be some epic undertaking, Star Fox was never about being a 20 hour game.

It's an arcade shooter. It's a totally different beast than No Man's Sky and comparing the two is more than a little ridiculous.

It being an arcade shooter doesn't mean it shouldn't be compared to No Man's Sky and the like. There's no reason an arcade shooter in this day and age should be confined by a design philosophy stuck in the 90's. There's nothing stopping a game as grand as No Man's Sky from having mechanics to make it an arcade shooter.

Setting is everything here. You're flying in the infinite of space. There are plenty of design mechanics to keep Star Fox arcadey while still using all that modern tech has given it.

Yes but setting some sort of standard point of entry (must have ___ and must be ___) is ignorant imo. Star Fox could be an updated version of the 64 game as long as it entertains and is a great game. There really shouldn't be any other qualification.
