Maybe it's like that time when you think deeply before doing something you know how to do so well but screw up for some odd cosmic reason. However, this is not the case because they didn't have that skill in the first place.

So now we know where the name Wii-U came from!:
Iwata: We need a name for the Wii successor.
Reggie: Thinks deeply and says; Wii uuuhhh....
Iwata: That's it! Wii uh!
Iwata then wrights it down but misspels it and forgets the h, writing down Wii-U instead.
Reggie,go home,you're drunk

Well... They don't think enough. Sony was smarter when they just put a number after the brand. PS1,2,3,4. Easy to remember and everyone knows that 2 is after 1 and it's a new console. I know a lot of people who thinks that WiiU is a HD Wii.
The names of their products aren't the problem.
A name doesn't make a successfully product either.
"Playstation" sounds like something Fisher Price would make for toddlers.
XBox One is probably the worst console name ever, considering there already was a console a lot of people referred to as the XBox 1.
Too deeply, perhaps. Untill it makes no sense. They really should go with the simple method without abandoning their successful trademarks. Wii U should have been Wii 2. The new 3DS should have been 3DS Advance. As for 3DS itself, I think it makes sense because of the technology involved.
Yeah, Reggie.. I've seen what happens when you think "deeply" about the names of your products!
