I dont know how you can say that with the infamous return of screen tearing. I hated that on the 360. They didnt say there was a clear winner on the conclusion, except for the PC version.

I didn't say it, DF did: " we're inclined to give the Xbox One the final nod here" (out of the console versions)

I dont think they meant nod as the clear winner. As they have said here:

"That said, when assessing both titles overall, both are still solid releases, and the Definitive Edition is well worth picking up if you don't have an Xbox One, or simply prefer the Dual Shock 4 controller."

Again with the lack of AF on PS4? This can't be a coincidence anymore, something is going on with is issue, it keeps happening in game after game.

looks like its a bug dying light was just patched on ps4 and fixed the issue and here the ps4 has worse AF then last gen thats just not right

wow

So the Xbox One version is the way to go according to DF then.

They're saying XB1 is the better choice if you have both consoles or you don't mind which controller, but it's not so much better that you should avoid the PS4 version if you don't have an XB1 or would much rather the dualshock 4.

cant tell if being sarcastic but if you right click the image and open it in a new tab you can see it in full res the update now gives the ps4 at least 8x AF

I did some digging of my own on the AF issue, turns out that the ps4 sdk uses trilinear by default, and higher needs to be added by the developers themselves, where as xbo sdk uses trilinear, 4x, 8x and 16x anisotropic filtering profiles at sdk level.

Simply put, its easier to do on xbo, and needs to be added manually (currently) on ps4 so when multiplatform games are done these things get overlooked then patched later if theres a big enough outcry.

The good news is, there are tickets up with the ice team to add anistropic profiles to sdk level so multiplat engines can lock to the same across platforms.

Well this is awkward, DF claims the Xbone version has the superior framerate but NIXgamer claims the PS4 has it better.

Also shame about that AF issue.

This is strange. Because trilinear I wouldn't call a good choice for default setting, tbh. Not implementing it at SDK level is even more weird.

That's just how it is, it's been addressed in a newer SDK but I doubt any of the current crop of games would be using this newer SDK yet since substantial changes to the render pipeline were made.

1.50 update to dying light enabled engine level x8 AF to match that used on XBO.

1.30 left, 1.50 right.

Yup, I've already seen that it was patched. I still don't know who is to blame more when AF is not present in a game. At least it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
