Forums - Sony - PS4 and PS Vita launch in China on March 20

Finally, but the launch line for the ps4 is really small. Even the Vita one has better line up. I guess it's due to the Chinese restriction and the localization. I can't wait to see the 1st week numbers :)

The VITA has an amazing lineup! Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden. Freedom Wars, Gravity Rush, Unit 13, Tearaway, Phantasy Star Online 2, Borderlands 2, Resistance, Muramasa Rebirth, Metal Gear Solid HD, God of War HD, Persona 4, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, Limbo, Final Fantasy HD, Killzone, Rayman Legends, PS AllStars, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Assassins Creed Liberation, Super Stardust, Injustice Gods Among Us, Velocity, Escape Plan, Fez, Counter Spy, Olli Olli, Hohokum, MLB The Show, Minecraft, Murasaki Baby, Shinobido 2, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, Dragon's Crown,The Wolf Among Us, Rachet & Clank, Guacmelee, Jet Set Radio, Jax & Daxter, Resident Evil Revelations, Silent Hill Book of Memories, Little Deviants, The Walking Dead, God Eater 2, Demon Gaze, Mortal Kombat, Batman Arkham Origins, etc just to name a few. Also cannot wait for Gravity Rush 2, Tokyo Ghoul Masquerader, Soul Sacrifice 2 & much more ubahness coming soon. ;)

The PS4 does too though imo. The PS4 already has 450 games out or in develeopment. That is unheard of for a console less than 18 months old. I already have 70+ games on my PS4. So many great F2D/F2P, PS+ Games too.

PlayStation 4 have almost 250 games in Europe and America and China is only getting 6 (if this is the full lineup).

Yes, but everyone in China knows they can just order/buy the games online from the Hong Kong PSN (or any region PSN since it is not region-locked) and get any PS4 game they want once they have the console. I have a Japan, USA, UK, Hong Kong PSN. I like to have all 4 because they all have different stuff on the PSN store. Also the Hong Kong store has Enlgish as an option since it was a British Colony for so long. (Pro Tip) ;)

Has there been any clarification as to whether the PS4 and PSV are region-free or not? So far, I have found nothing about that.

VITA & PS4 in China is not region-locked. ;) Sony would have refused to ship them if China demanded they lock it.

both consoles with fail, psv will have better launch because of FF remaster but after that ps4 will outsell it.
i'm suprised of the lack of Chinese games at launch they should port some popular pc games on ps4

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Wait, didn't Sony though only have 200k shipped?

You wouldn't know what to believe.

Guess we will have to find out what happens then. Hopefully, demand doesn't outstrip supply, or Sony is going to have supply issues.

at least they launched it almost 1000RMB cheaper than the xbox one, so that's something.

The PS Vita's games are more appealing than PS4's games in China. That's saying something.

Such a shitty place it is. All that economic development couldn't change their mindsets, such fail. Even many other non-violent games didn't get approved. Epic fail for the Chinese government.

Maybe their mindset is the reason for their economic devolopement? They essantily bann other games to protect their culture and to promote their own stuff, its healthy for every country. Dynasty warriors is also a violent game too but it got promoted because it highlights chinese history and themes.

I can understand why they bann a lot of games, even games like the last of us had disscasting scenes like showing that torchering people is okay.

But what harm do games like FIFA, Driveclub and Infamous: Second Son do? I don't think there is anything in these games that is a threat to Chinese culture. I'm not saying banning a few games is wrong, but banning pretty much all of its games IS wrong.

All these games are crap. I'll be surprised now if PS4 even sells 30k FW in China.

Banning FIFA and Driveclub? What are you even talking about. :)

In the local Sony store in Shanghai you can play Driveclub in the demo machines at the entrance. I am certain that Driveclub will even be bundled on the release. Knack will most likely also be bundled, just like Japan. It's a safe card to play, to bundle a platformer.

FIFA, NBA etc. will be the top-selling games in China just like in the west, so no they won't be banned either. I don't even know where you got that from. Even games like Assasin's Creed and CoD will be released here.

Go to http://store.steampowered.com/ and change the language to Simplified Chinese, and see which games Steam are allowed to sell in mainland China. The same games should be possible to release on consoles as well.

Some segments of a game might be removed or altered, some bad words might be removed as well or localized into a different meaning etc. But most of the common games will see a release in China as well.

I mean, even GTA can be bought from the Chinese Steam. The mainland Chinese Steam store. Think about it.

Not the best launch line-up for PS4, it depends on the amount of stock Sony has available for launch, if there's 200K available then I think they'll sell in the launch week, maybe launch day.
think 200K was what Sony was allowed to ship to China by the government, we'll see if that's changed, if MS were allowed more than 100K for launch Sony should b allowed the same and they should at least sell that many units at launch.

Vita wise it's cheaper, seems to have a better line-up, should sell pretty well IMO.

That's the Vita line-up in the US, EU, Japan, Latin America, Asia and anywhere in the world, except China. The launch line-up in China is abysmal for PS4 and bad to decent for Vita (since it got FF and Toukiden at least).

Unless more games are coming to both, China will keep buying consoles in the gray market. Unless PS4 and Vita are region free there, so they can buy official consoles and only games on the gray market. However, I'm doubtful that this is the case. That delay seemed suspicious and I really tought they would just add the lock to follow some crazy order from the Chinese government.
