I guess we didn't learn from last gen about games getting better looking over time..

Amazing isn't it. PS1/PS2/PS3/Xbox/Xbox 360 ... Every generation, every time. But here we are YET again.

It's baffling.

It truly is.

I am sure hardline will have fps drop and yes there are games that look better then Hardline.  The egine is badly optimized. What i am suprised though , is that visceral games are known for their graphics as we have seen with dead space games. HOwever we do not see that with hardlien which is weird and disappointing.

Agreed. It's disappointing how unoptimized (and maybe rushed?) Hardline is. Playing Dead Space 1/2 for the first time on PS360 looked like sex!

You probably right and it was rushed to meet the EA deadlines. It clearly shows that the engine needs more work to work well with consoles. Only time will tell when DF does the analysis. i wouldnt be suprised if the game didn't change that much if at all from the beta.  I was equally impressed with dead space graphics and yes totally agree with you considering the hardware that we got for that generation. Deadspace 3 was also quite gorgeous looking. Army of two game done by them looked pretty good as wel

They need to have them at a particular price point, You obviously have to remember these consoles come with $60 controllers, the hardware alone costs $340 and that is the way they will always be if there are future consoles, the best you can get for the price. They also record all of the gameplay as well which anyone who has done so on their PC does affect performance. They’re fine.

I liked the 7th gen where the companies took a hit on the hardware. The 360 was brilliant apart from the RROD issue. PS3 was probably too big a hit for Sony but I'd be more than happy for them to lose $100-$200 per console and give us some decent hardware. Then again, I'd be happy if Sony went out of business altogether, so there's my bias :P

The bitter is strong with this one. And no that simply isn’t going to happen again, Sony lost an incredible amount of money at the beginning of the 7th gen, it was so bad you nearly got your wish.

But no, for $340 hardware it does a lot. Play your games, record them and stream them at the same time without taking a performance hit. Installing games whilst playing others (even my PC has trouble with that) and games are only going to get better looking, like it does EVERY gen. Never mind cool additional features like share play coming out throughout the years.

Yeah I enjoyed my PS3 but had some customer service issues with Sony Australia and am pretty bitter now. I really do wish them the worst.

I know many people don't care about graphics but 720p on a year old "next gen" console... c'mon.

You would expect the framerate to be a rock solid 60fps and the actual graphics and effects to be amazing. Does the game feature a lot of destructable environments?

I don't like you. I certainly hope you quit gaming before PlayStation does.

That's harsh... Wishing for the crumbling of a multi-billion-dollar company which employs 140,000 people, just because of some bad service representives.

I understand how important customer service is, but it takes a lot more than that to make me hate a company that much. Really bad customer service would just make me stop buying from that company (Or at least buy less). I would only wish for a company to go out of business if they were toxic to the industry/industries they're in... Like Comcast.

Not really, Hardline is the most graphically-intensive game right now.

I guess we didn't learn from last gen about games getting better looking over time..

I expect the improvement this gen will be much less dramatic than last gen. There's no tricky architecture to figure out this time around.

Also, I'm 95% sure Wright was being sarcastic.

An ugly game is ugly at any resolution. Still surprised we are getting in 720p games on consoles today.

Well, I pretty much doubt this is bad optimization, given Visceral's track record. This means both next-gen consoles have hit their limits. This is going to be the standard from now on.
