We all know the Wii was filled with casuals. SNES still had a big hardcore crowd.

Other M hopefully killed future third person installments. Third person Metroid is beyond stupid and breaks all the immersion.

Lmao, because everyone knows that the real reason Other M was trash was because it was in 3rd person. If only Sakamoto made Other M an FPS! Then it would have definitely been good!

It's hard to compare the two games. They are both part of the same series but they play vastly different from each other. Super Metroid is more fast paced with an emphasis on platforming while Prime is much more slower paced and focuses more on exploration and shooting. Both games are equally amazing and it really depends on your preference as to which is the "better" game.

I prefer Prime because the first person view and scan visor add a rich layer of immersion into the game, but I still consider Super Metroid to be one of the greatest Metroid games.

Seing that Metroid Prime is garbage and Super Metroid is one of the best games ever made,Super Metroid.

Made me happy that they acknowledged that Metroidvania is its own genre. Certain misguided individuals think it's just a platformer for some reason, but here it's coming straight from a Nintendo spokesperson's mouth that they consider it not a platformer, but a separate genre.

I personally prefer Prime, but consider both among the best games of all time.

ugh this is incredibly hard, both are more then masterpieces. Eh i would say metroid Prime, or super metroid xD i really cant decide. OK i go with Metroid Prime!

Super Metroid. It was the better Metroidvania, and the platforming, along with platforming abilities like wall-jump, grappling beam and speed boost worked better in 2D.

There was no speed boost in Metroid Prime.

@OP

Prime 2 ;)

My bad, it's been a while since I played prime. It was Other M that had 3D shinesparking.

Man, am I glad I didn't play Other M. I was terrible at shinesparking. Even in super metroid and fusion.

It's really bad. That said, I did like what they were aiming for with the 3rd-person-to-1st-person view changes, it was just exectued horribly. And then crammed with terrible cutscenes.

Metroid Prime's the better game.
Still, Fusion is the best
