I honestly like Super Metroid a bit more but Metroid Prime is really close. I love both games.

I think is Super Metroid. Prime is very good, indeed,it is very inmersive and has excellent gameplay, but lacks completely the sense of speed that the SNES game has. You can get lost for certain reasons, and while that's part of the game, it clearly can become tedious sometimes. You can get lost in Super Metroid as well, but you never lose Samu's speed, something that puts you in the mood.

That being said, I think both games are perfect, but Super Metroid is just more accessible.

It not even close. Super Metroid is a better designed game. And it still focuses on platforming first. And it's retro futuristic setting is more "Metroid" than the more typical futuristic setting of Prime. And it has no collect-a-thon at the end.

I still fucking love Prime, though. Best FPS game I've ever played.

The problem with the first MP is that it has too much platforming. Thankfully fixed in the much superior sequels.

There's no such thing as being "more Metroid". The series has evolved (thankfully).

But yeah, the collect-a-thon in Prime 1 is by far the worst in the entire trilogy.

Super Metroid. It was the better Metroidvania, and the platforming, along with platforming abilities like wall-jump, grappling beam and speed boost worked better in 2D.

There absolutely is such a thing as being more Metroid. The series has devolved. Saying there's too much platforming in a platformer is a joke. It's not a problem; it's a core mechanic. If you don't like platforming, you shouldn't be playing Metroid. The collect-a-thon in every Prime was terrible, not just the first one. The temple keys in 2 were just as bad, for example.

And it wasn't "fixed" in the sequel. Fusion had just as much platforming as Super.
