The problem with the first MP is that it has too much platforming. Thankfully fixed in the much superior sequels.

There's no such thing as being "more Metroid". The series has evolved (thankfully).

But yeah, the collect-a-thon in Prime 1 is by far the worst in the entire trilogy.

There absolutely is such a thing as being more Metroid. The series has devolved. Saying there's too much platforming in a platformer is a joke. It's not a problem; it's a core mechanic. If you don't like platforming, you shouldn't be playing Metroid. The collect-a-thon in every Prime was terrible, not just the first one. The temple keys in 2 were just as bad, for example.

And it wasn't "fixed" in the sequel. Fusion had just as much platforming as Super.

I did them in half an hour. Get better. ;) It's not nearly as cryptic as the first MP. Some of these artifacts are practically impossible to find without a guide.

Platforming is for 2D games, not for first person games. Read my post again.

Super Metroid didn't even sell that well and Nintendo still had a big fanbase then. It's another overrated classic.

Both Fusion and Zero Mission are better than Super Metroid anyway.

No, it´s a very underrated classic, that´s why doesn´t have epic sales, because it should be almost at Zelda levels. Sorry but I have to disagree, I´ve played Super Metroid 3 times, the first time was like 3 years ago, and I love it everytime. The gba metroids have better controls, but not better atmosphere, Super Metroid is creepy and makes you feel very lonely, like a good space terror movie , is impressive for a snes game, is not overrated imo.

It doesn't matter how fast you did them. Collect-a-thons don't belong in Metroid. Platforming is for Metroid games. If it couldn't do platforming on par with Super in FP, it shouldn't have been first person in the first place.

Doesn't matter which sold better when it comes to quality. And it didn't sell much differently than the Prime games anyway. Sold better than Prime 2 anyway.

SA-X is ten times creepier than anything in Super Metroid. And the graphics of the GBA Metroid games are also much better.

I'd go as far as to say it's impressive for any game. It has an atmosphere that rivals that of modern games like Bioshock.

Take a look at how much the SNES and the GC sold respectively.

There are two styles of Metroid games. Deal with it. Even Nintendo acknowledges this.

Doesn't make a difference. MP3 on the Wii sold worse thant the first with 5x the install base.

There's nothing to deal with. I have no problem with there being two styles of Metroid games. Like I said, they're the best FPS games I've ever played, tied with Bioshock. But that doesn't mean they're equal. There is a "better" style of Metroid, and that's the one that wasn't created to be a spin off trilogy of Samus' side adventures. And it has nothing to do with Super being 2D. A better Metroid could be made in 3D, but that can't be done with first person.

I've never liked Metroid Prime. I don't like the idea of an FPS Metroid, even if it does retain that exploration and unique skillset that comes from Samus' suit.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

We all know the Wii was filled with casuals. SNES still had a big hardcore crowd.

Other M hopefully killed future third person installments. Third person Metroid is beyond stupid and breaks all the immersion.

Tough question, but I have to go with Prime. Like an EGM editor stated upon its release: "It's like the best game from the future fell through a time warp." I couldn't agree more.

Super Metroid is very close though and absolutely destroys the other Prime games.
