It would be nice to see some kind of poll done with regards to this. Not saying your wrong, but my personal experience (PS4 activity feed) says otherwise. But like digital sales figures and actual sold-through numbers for all consoles, these are stats we'll (probably) never see.

50$ for 700$ in content per year...... Its a 100% no brainer |
1. How was it worded terribly? The free games is absolutely the only reason I'm OK with paying 50 dollars a year for the ability to play online.
2. Just because you may get 50 dollars worth in a month, doesn't mean these are games you don't already own, or games that you would even want to play. I was being conservative in my estimate of a few months for the service to pay for itself.
Also, your math doesn't add up.
I pay for PSN but am beginning to wonder exactly what I am paying for. I was subscribed previously on the 360 to Xbox Live but that was worth the money in most cases. Dedicated servers, little to no lag, all games up and running at all times. That to me was worth it.
With PSN however what exactly are you paying for? Driveclub is constantly plagued by online issues (nowt to do with Sony tho). Pure Pool plagued by online issues (again, nowt to do with Sony). Countless other titles with lag and problems (yet nowt to so with Sony). What exactly am I paying them for if they are not responsible for the online infrastructure of most games? Thats right, I'm paying £40 a year to purchase "mostly" rubbish indie titles that I don't really want in the first place.

PS Plus is an amazing deal no matter how you slice it. I got 30$ worth of games I wanted to buy last month. (actually over that if I want to count Thief PS3). Every single person I know who is a PS Gamer loves the service. I actually have an Xbox friend who complains every month how PS Plus is amazing and they wish MS would do better to compete with it. |
I never said it wasn't a great deal, when I had a PS3 I was able to play Vanquish, Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Resident Evil 5, Darksiders, Infamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, among others. That doesn't change the fact that those games weren't free because I paid $50 to get them.

Why confused? Must the point I was addressing from average console gamer vs an average gamer. I still don't think there was a point bringing then up though. The average console gamer doesn't play online at all do why would it matter if it's free or not?
Games are already pretty damn expensive, if I can get something for free I'll gladly take it over the paid option. Even then, I don't care about those free games most of the time, and ffs my backlog is big enough without this flood of games I don't want!
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I would say the average console EDIT: "gamer" does play online though. Halo, COD, GTA, Destiny, and others are all games that the average console gamer often plays online. And I don't know if it's just bad typing or bad English, but you're becoming very difficult to understand.
I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.
I wouldn't pay just to be able to play online (i rarely play online on consoles anyway), but i'm more than happy to pay for something like PS+. I've been subscribed since 2012, so it now being mandatory doesn't really bother me. It's been ruthless to my backlog though :p

This gen definitely free. Especially since Wii U's internet tends to be better than XboxL and PSN recently...
Even then, I would prefer to have free. Mainly because I don't want digital games and also because what if I stop playing games for a few months? All that membership goes to waste. So if I have to pay for it, I always feel obligated to play as much online as I can.
