Forums - Gaming - Dreamcast 2 and Sega Net relaunch

@Damstr8

haha, come on, it's obviously just a joke thread (or if not, it would never actually happen). they've been having financial issues for like the past 7 years (if not the past 2 decades). they could never afford to release another system on a global scale.

but fuck it, if there were a dreamcast 2, id buy it day 1. i don't even think sega is any good anymore.

It is a rumor guys so who knows... Treat it as such for now but it seems pretty convincing given the early SegaNet registration being offered to current DC owners.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

the dreamcast was a failure...why do they think it will sell now?

After it failed and discontinued it they actually started selling them again due to customer demand.

^^ key word being "limited"

i mean the master system didn't sell. sega cd/32x add ons didn't sell. the saturn didn't sell. the dreamcast didn't sell.

im pretty sure a dreamcast 2 would never happen with that track record.

The dreamcast didn't sell though it STILL has a lot of hardcore support.  Something like this might end up being cheap and just the right kind of cash gain if done right and in small numbers

^^

not enough to warrent the creation of a new system (even if cheap).

Why would it need to be a new system? They could just use the Dreamcast specs and call it the Dreamcast 2 when they attach a harddrive to it. After all the specs are still just rumored.

The DC still has people making homebrew games for it.

It's basically just the Wii's Virtual Console and Wii Ware.

I mean it still seems unlikely, but i could see why they might risk it.

The situation is a little different.......................

Right...the hardware market is a little too crowded as it is,It would be a horrible move if they chose to release a console now...they would make a dime, and it would fail once again

SEGA will keep exploring new ways to cash in on their old titles. They've been doing that ever since they dropped out of the console race.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.
