The FGC is the absolute worst. I love DOA, and Smash, but the community is packed with ignorant arseholes who've got no idea how to interact with people.

Kind of stupid to say that a community is a turn-off, but it is to me.

as a fan of fighting games i hate to say it but you're right. a year ago i started going to an arcade spot in the mall that hosted console fighting games play every thursday, and peoples' social skills are just very lacking, and when they do speak EVERYBODY has to talk as if I'm a noob at fighting games (I'm not pro worthy, but i hold my own and can make a match lively). and then you get the butthurt people who don't like such and such technique or character, or the over arrogant wanna be pro, etc.

But i can't deny the competition, if you're like me and can block out people bad attitudes, both online and in person, and just enjoy the game and challenge, its very satisfying.

Just curious.  Is there a good reason?  I'm looking for reasonable answers, because I'm going to be making a video explaining fighting games in the coming days.  Would be nice to hear some feedback of what people are needing help with, incase it isn't already in my notes.

My youtube channel will consist of mostly fighting games, so it makes sense I go into detail of how to play them.

All fighting games will be uploaded in 60 FPS.  No exceptions.  That's the speed they all run at anyway... except Jojos, but I don't play that game anyway.

Here's a simple test. And that's all it is.  A test to see if the video would actually upload in 60 FPS, how it would look after youtube has processed it, etc.  So, the next videos will be much better.

I simply don't have the patience to learn how to play them competently.

Delicious, delicious games.

I genuinely wish I wasn't as easily pissed as I am. Hat's off to you for sticking at it.

There's no excuse for ignorance, it's not hard to be nice, everyone's got to start somewhere. People like that do nothing but back up the mainstream's claims that all gamers are basement dwelling arseholes.

Exactly.  A lot of new comers come into fighting games thinking its just about pressing buttons and they dont realize how technical it actually is.

But luckily the FGC is pretty nice a lot of the times and will take it easy on new opponents or sometime help them entirely by showing them what to do

Post you video on here when you post it.  Id like to hear what you have to say :)

I wish someone would've told me about the elite level Tekken players who from Tekken 6 to TT2 and had early copies of the game. They had over a thousand matches logged while waiting in the lobby in the first week (imagine my surprise). I literally had to train to move forward with friends, so I am lucky my group of friends that I grew up with are big on fighters. We all trained together by putting one another to the test and then we'd team up and tag against others. Those elites don't let up for anyone. I don't mess with people in Tekken on the Playstation. On Killer Instinct they are a little nicer even and will even give tips while they proceed with the whipping. SF and Tekken are the two games where the least quarter will be given in the FGC outside of Guilty Gear. I have to say. I have a feeling that by Season 3 if KI doesn't grow a bit more it will still stay humble, but most of the FGC gamers will run away from Killer Instinct to play SF5 because Capcom announced recently that they are having a $500,000 cash prize tournament.

If you consider Smash a fighting game, I'll play that. I used to play games like Soul Caliber and Mortal Kombat but it just got old to me. The fighting style got old. With game like Smash, you can do moves that the game expects you to do or your can just study the damn game and make up stuff that others would deem impossible(Melee). I guess the same can go for other fighters in the genre but it isn't as easy or "flexible" per say to enjoy the gameplay. I used to be able to execute the most complex of moves, but after a while it became taxing on my memory, and I couldn't really do it anymore. Smash is like, anything goes martial arts while other fighting games are like Kung Fu. Note that these are similes.

Yeah, I'll agree, the typical fighters do get taxing. Im pretty sad that the next Tekken will be the last.

Because I don't have a fight stick and I don't have friends to play with. I really want to get into them, but if I'm going to learn, I'm going to do it right but because I have no one to play with, its not at the top of my priority list.

The man who won EVO this past year did it with an original PSX controller wire adapted into a 360.  You don't need a stick :P

But yeah, fighting game community here is weak.  Same in my real life :/

I do play them, but I never buy them at full price for a number of reasons (though I always buy Smash day 1).

1: The content doesn't justify $60.

2: There is always an edition that comes out that has more characters a year later and at a cheaper price.

3: I'm not heavy into fighters, so the people that wind up being online a year later is fine with me. I tend to play them mostly couch co-op anyways. It's a lot more fun to get drunk at a party with a group of friends and bet "all the money in the world" on a round of Smash or Tekken Tag 2 Wii U. (They are also great for making drinking games around.)

I have horrible memory and I hate remembering the combos. I also don't like a lot of QTE's in a game. That counts out the majority of fighting games. If they were more similar to how pvp is in dark souls or any souls game I would be more interested.

What?  I don't even, are you likening combos to qtes or something?  The only fighting game I've played that I can think of that had actual qtes is that DC fighting game that was a bag of flaming garbage, but it was based around the mortal kombat formula which is fundamentally flawed and unbalanced anyway.

And generally if you can't really get into combos try working with grapplers, their style is different and the only combos they do usually only chain two or three hits together, but primarily you're playing a game of footsie to set up throws.  Of course if you can't work the 360 inputs then maybe fighters just aren't for you.

I do play them, but not on any sort of competitive way.

I used to play them when I was younger, much younger - I still fire up International Karate + occasionally, but overall I don't like them much, specially ones with wild combos.
