Forums - Sony - What Has Happened to Sony’s First-Party Exclusives?

I'm going to be completely honest here - I genuinely feel like there's a media bias toward Sony in America and it's reflected in the reviews.

You have the domestic product going up against the imported product and all of a sudden a sense of nationalism comes into play. Same idea behind iPhones being most popular in the states vs worldwide, or *in my mind* the same kind of people that swear by Ford or Chevy. It feels like there's ulterior motives when it comes to grading Sony here and this is something i've felt for a very long time. I think this presence might be bigger than ever now because Microsoft has lost massive ground in it's own territory.

Nintendo get's a pass because they pose absolutely no threat and don't even directly compete :P At this point they've become niche

People forgot that ps3 was also label as not having games in his first year and looked how that console ended up. Anyway this is only more evidence that exclusives aren't the selling power of a console, it's the multiplats so thank God people are choosing ps4 as their multiplatform console. First party is just icing on the cake.

No, it's brand awareness. PS4 is selling well because 90% of its library is the same as its nearest rival, it has the PS name and it doesn't cost €600 at launch.

Yes, part of it it's brand awareness but I'm sure that if ps4 didn't have the multiplats, brand awareness would have done nothing for it.

Edit: forgot to mention that what really caused the ps brand to create awareness were precisely the multiplats in the ps1 era so at the end, it's the multiplats that have move sony consoles, not first parties.

Its simple. Last gen Sony were all about innovation and gameplay, this gen there clearly on a graphics hike. Seems to be there selling point of there console.

never said you said they were bad just you seem to be moving goal post to make one company look worse than the other. You named 4 games out of many. You named Spatoon ONE new IP, wow. its a 3rd person shooter nothing innovative there. Xenoblade is a sequel nothing there, Bowser mode? come on. Captain Toad is a damn spinoff of a spinoff, they took one aspect of a game and made a whole new one around it. nothing innovative there. Resident Evil did that years ago with Mercenaries.

Uhm all those games do something no other game has done. I call that innovation. I'm obviously just listing games that are coming out this year. And again, you don't need a new ip to innovate.

Anyway, Codename Steam is another example.

none of those games have done anything no other game has done

Sony first party games are still as good as ever. Reviewers may have changed and are now hating on everything all the time, but the games are far from disappointing. Killzone SF, Knack and Infamous SS were fantastic games!

You gave me a good laugh there

killzone sadowfall and infamous ss were great I agree there

but knack

hell no

ok at best

So there would be no outrage on the internet if Sony sold ND to Nintendo? ;)

Well...Maybe a little

Seems like nobody cares about games nowadays. Everybody buys a PS4 yet there is no must own games on the system. I wonder how long this will last.
