Imagine all the games being pushed back a year or so. Imagine the polish and extra time which was as we see needed for a bunch of these games. That's what should've happened. Sony rushed their system and MS reciprocated. We would've had way more launch games and the generation would be just starting. I think it would've been almost perfect.

Based on the amount of stuff Nintendo have lined up for this year, I feel like Big N was actually expecting the two of them to take the cue from their first year struggles and actually do that.

I agree with this and ive said it before. I honestly think both consoles were released a year early. the wii u had a pretty good launch which could have forced sonys hand, by the time the wii u plummeted to the depths sony had already got things in motion.

Theres plenty to play so long as you dont go into each game expecting end-of-gen quality games.

we get this every gen, people spoiled by the quality of end of gen games the previous gen, feel shortchanged but the first wave of games.

Fact of the matter is, theres plenty worth playing, you just have to give them a try instead of basing your dissapointment on how other people perceived games.

Nintendo just has soo much lined up this year, its hard to think they had this much in development and thought it was a good idea to let Sony explode onto the scene virtually unchallenged unless they felt there was some reason it wouldn't go down this way, and I don't think they're short-sighted enough to doubt Sony's ability to have a successful launch, I mean it was kinda obvious Sony were brewing a media storm.

Despite Nintendo having a nice few gems in 2014, six games (even counting Boom) last year and a possible fifteen this year doesn't seem right UNLESS they made the assumption Sony and Microsoft were gonna wait a bit longer.

Well, technically that's not a fact, it's an opinion. Which you're certainly entitled to, but it may not hold true for others.

- Nintendo has been a huge disappointment. We finally get an HD Nintendo console and what do they do? Give us a 3DS sequel (3D World), and give us another weird looking Zelda game instead of a cool ass looking Zelda game like the E3 2011 demo.

Only disappointment about Nintendo for this gen are for Wii U hardware sales,

Nintendo Wii U games are some of the best in whole franchises and one of the best in this gen, and yes, looks like a Zelda U will be one of the best Zelda games ever and looks great.

it is a fact, theres three consoles, each with many, many games, theres enough to suit any gamer, and "worth playing" is very different to "is the most amazing game ever"

I wouldn't know. I've been playing a lot of PS2 games and I don't see myself buying the new consoles cos 1) PC and 2) I don't seek photorealism in games, I prefer the clean and less detailed look of older games. Imagine if all the energy and budget that goes into the graphics of today's games went into better gameplay, level design, atmosphere and everything else that is actually important.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

"Worth playing" is also a very subjective qualifier though, it will vary from person to person. "Plenty" is also relative.

There are always things one can gain from lesser experiences. I mean, if you've sunk the capital into a console, you might as well try to make the most of it. If not, use something else until better things come along. It's always good to have a back-up alternative.

Being primarily a Nintendo gamer I strongly disagree. This has been my favourite generation so far!
