Forums - Gaming - The Order 1886 is Ryse Son of Rome

People disliked both games for the same reason and not because they were exclusives. I hope the industry finally gets the message: stop prioritizing cinematic experience, people want games, not movies.

The vocal minority isnt everyone.

Ryse was hyped? When was this?

Everybody knows Crytek can't make good games. Everyone knew it was a 7th gen game which was cancelled/scrapped/remade and rushed to meet the XO launch.

That's what it looks like as far as reviews go. It looks like it hits the nail on the head graphically, but gameplay wise it falls short of being engaging, much like Ryse

Don't remember Ryse being really hyped. Just hated on by trolls who never played it.

Bought it for $10 on Steam and not a single regret.
It was also a launch game so I wasn't expecting something incredible. People were with the Order in some ways.

If the Order was about $40 at launch like it should have been the hype would have not been so ridiculously high. People defending its short gameplay just surprised me.

Both games i'd buy on the cheap. Not something i buy at main price, but certainly not horrible as some make them sound.

Now, if only they could get ready at dawn working on a Vita GoW... yeah... probably too late for that. :(

What hype?  There were SO many negative articles compared to positive ones.  Like where are people getting this "hype" for the order from?  Most seemed to be expecting 60-70 metascore.

The reviews are in and The Order 1886 stands at a metascore of 65 barely five point higher than Ryse Son of Rome's 60 which we should take off given that the latter was a launch title.

Both games hyped from the beginning to extreme proportions.

The only merit to either game was their beautiful graphics and they suffered from to many quick time events boring story and imited gameply variety and length.

After Dying light and Evolve being disappointments this is just one more for the pile.

I just hope Bloodborne does not follow the trend.

Dying Light a dissappointment? If anything, I consider that more of a sleeper hit. Based on their previous work with Dead Island, I was expecting the game to essentially a reskin. What we got was way different and a pretty unique experience with plenty to do that isn't just "go here, then there, now back to point 1" Sure, some missions were like that, but a lot of them had actual content to it

That's the first think I thought of when finishing the game. "Holy shit... This is rise, isn't it?"

From Sony fans.

And no, the majority expected 70-80

alright so pretty appropriate levels of hype.  If people were overhyped they'd be expecting TLoU levels of critical acclaim.  That's within a margin of error anticipating Meta scores.  Plus you can never predict those crazy 20s dragging it down.  Negative press has to be taken into account when saying how hyped a game was.
