I played FMV games in the 90's. It just sounds like the same kinda game. Watch 90% of it. Play 10% it with little to no room to actually play other than point gun shoot bad guy til the next cutscene.

I did too, in fact i played Daedalus Encounter recently.

They're not alike in any way, shape or form. The Order is like Uncharted/TLOU, pure and simple.

So terrible games? Ok then.

Except they did. They made perfectly clear it would be filmic. It would be cinematic. It would be story driven. It would have black bars. People never expected anything different they're just hating on it because it doesn't fit their kind of game. Look I like Arcade racers more than sim racers. Am I gonna hate on the next GT because it doesn't look like it has a crash mode like Burnout 3? NO because it's perfectly clear that it is not a game for me. I'm not going to say there's anything wrong with being a sim because there isn't. Why can't people just enjoy their open world stuff and if they hate linear games then go ahead and don't play them. I enjoy both so I'll be getting this AND plenty of open world stuff but hey I guess I'm just a crazy person who doesn't have to have every game in a genre fit into my vision of what the "good" type of game in that genre is.

I think they communicated it just fine, people just didn't want to listen or wanted to weave their own narrative no matter what.

Indeed. It didn't take long at all to realize it was going to be a very story focused, linear, single player experience with a strong cinematic feel.

I like games like these, especially with the setting it has.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I blame the general audience for trying to nitpick every single detail of the title. Communication was very clear that this was going to be a shorter cinematic experience.

Too much crying coming from these guys, I know it must suck to have your work slammed, but that is the business they are in.

Or rather too much crying from people who obviously have zero interest in the game, yet continue to voice their distaste over and over and over again.

Lol

PS4 being the worldwide leader is the lead cause of stomach cancer..

I don't get this whole vision thing. Do they put a note in the case with “dear customer, don't you dare to not judge our game before you read our vision!“
Why would I care? If a dev wants to make a racing game where you only have to accelerate or break, I don't care what their vision was. It will be a game I will avoid. Of course this is a harsh example and exaggerating but the whole vision thing is just off.
They are targeting around 20 million users with their game, it should stand for itself and if it doesn't, it's the devs fault in making the game and not how they weren't able to communicate their vision before release.

I wanted to post this article to defend the game. It really doesn't deserve all the shit it's been getting.

That line cracked me up.

It's a shame that the ride will come to an end soon.

I know I'm gonna miss daily threads about The Order

Case in point.

This is what Factor 5 did when Lair was poorly reviewed. They sent out books telling revieweres how to see their vision and review the game properly.

Suffice to say it made things worse.
